Got it networked... sorta.Got my PowerBook 1400 networked today at long last
I know its really slow, but at least it's not 48 hours for a build from source. It did work, right?Four hours later, this is still installing. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ller-for-mac-os-x-10-4-tiger-powerpc.2271615/
Ah, Mac OS 7, now that really takes me back. OS 7.5 was the goto for the emulator Basilisk II, as Apple had made it fully available for free off their site, and it just plain worked better than the likes of 8.1. I even have it installed on my PS Vita, that emulator really does get around.Made a post to System7Today from my PowerBook 1400, which was recently revived by the Macintosh Garden
Ah, that's a shame. I like 8.1 on my PowerBook, but there are some stability issues I'm experiencing. Do you think that would be solved at least somewhat by switching to 7.6?Ah, Mac OS 7, now that really takes me back. Shame my only 68k Mac doesn't boot, and my only beige PPC Mac has always been a pain to work with.
My 68k Mac never even shows a sad Mac icon, I have to assume there are some dead caps inside it, and my beige Mac needs to be plugged in a while in order to boot. My assumption there is that the PSU isn't healthy. Basilisk II and Sheepshaver can do the duties of those Macs, fortunately, even if the latter is kind of jank. Besides, that's what having much newer PPC Macs is for.Ah, that's a shame. I like 8.1 on my PowerBook, but there are some stability issues I'm experiencing. Basilisk, in particular, tends to favor 7 over 8, in matters of speed, stability, and especially resolution changing. It also runs on just about anything, givin it is a 68k Mac emulator, and the requirements are quite low.
All of this is why I like having an OS 9 system, especially one that has specs that are an order of magnitude more powerful than my old main Mac.
Oh, it's not a G3. Much has been said about my 75Mhz Performa 6205CD, but it's most definitely not a G3.Yea, that would suggest maybe the PSU is bad in the 68k Mac and the beige G3 might have bad caps or a bad PRAM battery.
Oh! Sorry, for some reason I read it was a G3 >.>Oh, it's not a G3. Much has been said about my 75Mhz Performa 6205CD, but it's most definitely not a G3.
Of course, this may be overly harsh, but it was never a particularly fun machine. It was, however, affordable, at the time.
Now write a macro that does it for you and automatically triggers document recovery on restart and you'll have yourself a nice little macro virus :^)I crashed excel 2004 by pasting too many charts at once... Just like good old times.
I wish it had been! But no, it's a 603 from the bad old days, running OS 8.5 on the original 1gb hard drive it came with. I very much like using my G4 MDD while thinking about that old machine.Oh! Sorry, for some reason I read it was a G3 >.>
What was the issue do you think? My 1400 runs a 603e without much issue, so I'm not sure it could have been the processor alone xDI wish it had been!
