Greetings, Mojavians!

I just did a fresh Mojave install on my 2019 15" MBP from Internet Recovery. However, I am not able to access the App Store. I think the last time I used Mojave on this machine (from a bootable USB) was about 18 months ago and the App Store worked at that time. Using the bootable USB today, it looks like I am still logged into the App Store, and I can browse purchases, but I can't download any apps without entering my AppleID and password, and when I do, I get the attached message.

I also get the attached message trying to access the App Store with the fresh Mojave install on the MBP internal SSD. Tried a search in this forum, but nothing recent or relevant came up for this particular message/issue. I planned on having Mojave, a bunch of 32-bit apps, Parallels 18 with some WinXP games, and a Win 10 Bootcamp partition on this MBP as a legacy platform. Would be disappointing not to be able to install all those 32-bit apps from the App Store.

Yeah app store is a little hit and miss... sucks, I have a old carbon copy cloner backup of a Mojave, that I used to get apps off of, can't really update any tho... I think there was a memo or something saying the stopped support, but I thought it was only Sierra, but it's been buggy since then...

Im downloading a golf game using a MBP12 Mokave, of course and app store....asthat seems to work!
all i can say is your 2019 MBp could be too new, as they  can infiltrate that?
that is not fun you cant use the full app store features on Mojave.

I thought that as well. Because both my 15" and 16" support Sequoia and the 16" supports Tahoe and have T2 chips, I figured Apple might require the newer systems to update. Too bad because the 2019 15" was the last/most powerful Intel-based MBP to come pre-installed with Mojave and I was hoping to have that as a sort of living museum/archive best of all worlds that could run old 32-bit Apple apps as well as Win10 bootcamp and Parallels. My 2019 16" came with Catalina and I can't install Mojave on it.

Guess that dream of having everything on one machine may have to rely on the wife's old 2015 MBP. I'm going to try out Mojave and App Store on that machine to see if I get the update message or not. If I can get Mojave and the App Store to work on the 2015, I may just go ahead and build out Mojave and all the apps on the 2015, then Carbon Copy that image and restore it to the 2019 15". Once I have a working image with all my purchased apps, I won't need the App Store anymore. I'll keep everyone posted on success/failure of that approach.

Mojavians,

Sad to report that, at least for me, it appears my AppleID/AppleAccount is only compatible with newer OSes, namely Ventura and newer, according to the App Store message. Not sure if everyone's account is affected (likely, knowing Apple), but I assume whatever Apple did when it changed things up from AppleIDs to AppleAccounts among other things, likely caused the issue.

As a workaround, I was able to download a few of my 32-bit games from Sequoia, then copied those apps from the Applications folder of Sequoia to the Applications folder of Mojave. At least for the half dozen apps I tested, they didn't need to authenticate with the App Store. So the silver lining is that I was able to download my ancient apps using an Apple-approved "modern" OS and then copy them to my Mojave install. I'm definitely going to build out my Mojave image and then use Carbon Copy to create a "master" image for archive/restore purposes.

I only have 42 apps total in the App Store with about 12 of them 32-bit requiring Mojave. If I can have them all working with a master image, I guess that achieves my original goal. Thankfully, I never relied too much on the App Store as I prefer to have the install DMG files for scenarios like this, when a cloud provider decides to just make things no longer available.

Side note: I looked at "Hidden Purchases" in Tahoe, and it now just lists ALL apps, iOS and macOS in one long list (with no apparent way to filter/sort) so you have to hunt for the macOS apps. Sequoia and Sonoma still show only the macOS apps when listing hidden apps in the macOS App Store.
