Coins and first edition books.

I dabbled in coins when I was younger and my interest has waxed and waned over the years, but the I do get a bit of a bug every once in a while. The Morgan Dollar remains among my favorite coins, and I can still be tempted by a nice one.

Right back before Christmas, I visited a local coin dealer to pick up a 2016 silver proof set for my niece who was born in January(something I've always bought for all my nieces and nephews for their first Christmas). While I was there, a '79 O Morgan caught my eye, and it came home with me.

When we disposed of my grandfather's estate, about the only "good" coin he had left was an '85 CC. He was very active in collecting in the '60s and '70s, and he's part of the reason why I like Morgans so much. He was front and center when the mint hoards turned up, and had a bunch of really nice Morgan and Peace dollars from it(although he'd given away and sold a lot-including giving me a bunch of high condition common ones). I'd guess this '85 CC was a 63 or better. My dad was the executor and I handled the coins on his behalf-I actually suggested having that coin slabbed, although ultimately decided on an as-is sale. I REALLY wish I'd come up with the money to buy that one from the estate, though.

I share with Steven Wright, the most extensive collection of sea shells in the whole world. We leave it scattered in different beaches on the planet. You guys may have seen it...

I still have some stuff that I collected as a kid, including coins and comic books. I've verrrrrrrry gradually added to my collection of Oz books.

I "collect" Apple retail stores by visiting them in whichever cities I'm in. Even though many of them look the same, I save photos of these encounters in my Photos library.

I've got a few collectible Apple items, including an eMate 300.

I have a red Swingline stapler, unopened, just to be geeky.

I have a huge collection of DVDs. I'd estimate that it totals an astounding 3 DVDs, maybe 4. I prefer live movies so I never buy DVDs. Somebody must have given me the ones I have.

I have one as well, but it's more for function. See, if it wasn't red, I would never find it on my desk...

I collect antique botany books, though I haven't been terribly active with it lately. Most of the good ones are way out of my price range. The difference between me and most collectors is that I actually read them! It is so interesting to see the difference between academic knowledge and scientific attitudes from 100+ years ago. Back then they weren't afraid to say what they didn't know.

I also have a growing collection of woodworking tools that get used as frequently as possible - which still isn't often enough!

Dabbled in coins in college, but never went after anything valuable, only what I could pull from circulation.

I'm sure I could dig up my G.I. Joe, baseball card, and comic books from my childhood. I think they are in my parent's basement...

do not remind me of that - I stopped counting. Shoes - there is a restriction regarding space.
...the watch bands go in one single drawer and I can change them daily without repeating for about one month.
I used to only wear pure white, Reeboks.

Now I’m buying various Nike Air Max models, in a plethora of colours.

By the way, baby wipes are great for keeping them looking fresh.

I used to collect Pokémon cards too, but there's just too many, it seems there's literally a new set every week lol.

I also have a video game collection and a film collection.

I’m not a collector but have two Winston Churchill signatures. If it wasn’t for Churchill and the Brit’s steely resolve most of Europe would have been speaking German.

So my collecting stuff has expanded... again...

  • Lego - I am now into Lego, again. I can't get enough of the new sets that have come out over the past few years.
  • JoyToy - Warhammer figures, holy smokes are these guys and gals killer!
    • By product of this, is I have been reading the Horus Heresy book series... WOW!
  • Comic Books - Almost at 4000... Oh, and I love collecting (online), prints from artists who post stuff to their websites, or social media posts. Spawn, being one of my favorites!
  • Star Wars - Have slowed down on this over the past few years... Really only going after items that I really want, not so much a completest anymore. Also going after items that have been retired or hard to get that I have been wanting for sometime.
  • CD's - Closing in on over 1500 CD's now. To be fair, I love music and listen to music more than I watch TV, but
  • I also got the 4K Steelbook bug, so I have been picking up some steelbooks here and there. Only doing movies that I know will have repeat viewings.
And I wonder where all my money goes... lol... But I love to read, love to listen, and love to look at!!!
