Well, my wife and I have been upgradin’ our iPhones every year since the iPhone X, always buyin’ ’em straight from the Apple Store, no carrier strings attached. We usually turn around and sell our old ones lookin’ like new on local sites over where we live in Europe, typically takin’ about a 20% hit off what we paid. I’ve always gone for the Pro Max since it first came out, and she sticks with the regular Pro. Right now, we’re both rockin’ the white titanium, and we’re plannin’ to grab the iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max in the same color, both with 256GB.
I had the 14 Pro Max with 512GB, but it just didn’t pay off—seems like most folks don’t care much about all that extra storage since everyone’s usin’ the cloud these days, so I lost quite a bit of dough resellin’ it when it had more than 256GB. Maybe in the comin’ years, 512GB will be more in demand as tech improves and file sizes get bigger.
As for the Action Button on the 15 Pro Max, well, that was a real letdown. I think I used it maybe three times before decidin’ it just wasn’t worth the hassle, especially with havin’ to double-tap to get it to do anything.
This year, I’m mostly interested in how the battery life holds up, ‘cause, let’s be honest, an iPhone’s an iPhone, and the experience don’t change a whole lot from one to the next. We’re big on transferin’ photos from our cameras (Sony A9 III / Nikon Z9 for me and Fuji X-T5 / X100VI for her) to our phones and takin’ quick snaps on the go, so the camera upgrades each year are a big deal for us.
