USB C with proper support for video out; am getting some issues with Airplay lately

USB C with proper Files support will be the cherry on top of this cake!

The feature I most want to see is the new Pencil having a sturdy magnetic connection to the main unit

On the one hand, I'd love USB C.
On the other, I don't want FaceID.

Then again, I just bought a 512 GB / LTE / iPad Pro 10.5 for 650, I doubt the next iPP will beat that deal.

A 8 or 9 inch size? Really though, Face ID and no home button will be pretty nice.

I have been very happy with my 10.5, it's been perfect. I don't really need a ton of changes besides the new design, Face ID, A12X, and 6GB of RAM. Anything on top of that is just an added bonus to me. I can't wait to get mine, put my 10.5 up for sale this morning.

Just curious why no Face ID ? My launch iPhone X never fails, ever!

I couldn’t ever go back to Touch ID. And the iPads intergration will be even better.

I want Face ID, it’s so good on my iPhone X that using Touch ID on my iPad Pro 2017 feels outdated and just not as good.

That being said I also want a new ASK that’s better than the current one, I can’t replace a laptop with an iPad Pro until I get a reallly decent keyboard, since it’s something I use for hours daily (as a writer it’s the main thing) it really needs to be good.

I’d also like to see a new Apple Pencil since the current one is now 3 years old.

Like many other posting here, I am really excited for this update. Besides being the first major redesign of the iPad in 8 yrs, It will be my first major purchase from Apple in awhile, and my first iPad Pro.

I think most of the desired features have been covered, but I will echo many of them. As an artist who plans to use this as my main digital sketchbook and for editing photos & videos while traveling, I am most looking forward to:

1) the speed of the 12x chip
2) the slimmer bezels
3) the 2nd gen Apple Pencil
4) face ID

* the speed of the rumored 12x chip hopefully with 6 gigs of ram will be amazing for power hungry art Apps like the upcoming photoshop and 4K video editing

* the slimmer bezels will make the 12.9” more portable and the rumored bump from 10.5” to 11” screen on the smaller pro will be more emmersive while remaining portable. I was sold on the 10.5” before since I travel a lot...but now I may have to revisit my decision. I think I will have to see these new ones in person before I buy.

* The first gen Apple Pencil seemed great, but I am hoping there is a new way of charging the 2nd gen(like thru the rumored magnet connection) as the old way of sticking it precariously out the back end of the lightning connector always seemed dangerous to me. I am very accident prone. Perhaps the end of the pencil can then be used as an eraser. That’d be cool.

* Even tho I don’t have personal experience with Face ID, I am excited for it. Of all the iPads I’ve owned, the home button has been the main source of failure for me. I will be glad to see this physical button disappear. One less thing to worry about breaking.

* Camera. I am one of the few who actually cares about the camera on the iPad & I am glad that Apple has updated it along with the iPhone cameras. Yes, I am one of those people who has held up my iPad to take a picture. True, it was an iPad mini...but occasions do come up every now and then while using it where taking a pic with it is convenient. Plus the big screen is great for framing and editing on. Dual lens camera? Probably not happening on an iPad. But since Apple is moving into AR territory, it’d be cool to see the back camera get true depth features for more accurate object mapping and better depth of field control...but I think this will first appear on next years iPhones.

* USB-C. I welcome it. Another step closer to being a true laptop replacement. Faster photo and video transfers. Hooking up to 4K HDR monitors etc. All good.

* Wireless charging? Not really important for me. I still think the wired way of charging is best for iPads. Leave the wireless tech for iPhones & watches....and pencils?

*OLED screen with promotion. But I don’t think OLED coming to iPad until 2019 or later.

That’s it. Pretty much any update to these pros is gonna be a huge step up for me. I only hope they are available immediately after they are announced.

I obviously want no home button/ but want Face ID... But besides that I really hope Apple gives us the A12X processor. Does anyone see why they wouldn't do it?... oh and also what is the feature you most want? :)

Kallum S.
Nothing of the things that I want will make it to the new iPad Pro. I don't want Face ID, I don't care about it being bezel-less (symmetric bezels are all I'd prefer on the bezel front). It's not the hardware that is holding the iPad Pro back for my uses, but iOS.

Hardware wise, smaller bezels while retaining the 10.5” screen size would be ideal for me. Face ID would be fantastic, and I know I’m in the minority here but I’d prefer it to keep the lightning port, as I love having all of my devices use the same charging cable.

Software wise, I’d like to see all the iOS apps brought over to the iPad...phone app for WiFi calling and voicemails, Weather, Health, Calculator, etc.

I need more layers in Procreate. So the RAM bump and chip speed increase from my first gen 9.7" Pro are the most important features to me. My Pro is just too limited with even an 8x10" canvas.

It'd be really cool to be able to hook my iPad up to a large display to turn it into a drawing tablet but I don't know if that will happen anytime soon.

Oled isn’t happening but that’s up there. But without a single doubt the biggest thing is usb-C. That gives the biggest potential to really elevate the experience. 2nd gen pencil of course.

Kind of disappointing to see many on here may not understand what usb-c could mean and simply want to gripe about needing a different cord. That would be more of a mainstream gripe imo.

After using FaceID, I hate TouchID on the iPad.

It's unnatural to have to stretch your thumb out to reach the fingerprint sensor.

I await the preorder date to preorder a 10.5" (?) 512GB+Cellular iPad X/Pro 2018 when the time comes.

Even though I find that I don't really care about Lightning/USB-C at the moment, I think I'd like to see the new iPad come with a USB-C port. It'll jive well with my MacBook, although everything else I have is still for Lightning cables.

Introducing USB-C is just the first step though. I wouldn't expect to huge improvements early doors, they will likely stagger support of new features as and when they introduce new models and iOS versions.

Will be interesting to see what USB-C accessories they introduce and how they perform e.g. new HDMI out and does it support the original digital signal, new SD card reader and has the speeds improved etc.

**** Oh! I almost forgot... Water Protection! I hope with Apple possibly getting rid of the headphone jack, that the iPads finally get the water protection that iPhones have enjoyed for awhile now. True, the chances of dropping your iPad in the toilet are pretty slim. But I travel & backpack a lot with my iPads as it is my main editing device while on the road. I am careful to protect it while backpacking in different locations, but I always worry. Especially while backpacking in a downpour. It’d be nice not to worry.
