Because you 1) missed the part where I said "And you better believe me when I say that my employer wouldn't look kindly to having all of my data stored on a single enclosure, that isn't backed up weekly." RAID is not a backup.

Plus, that's an $800 solution to an issue that Apple created, and didn't exist a year ago.

Still, an external TB raid is the way to go for video editing. Just back stuff up on your local nas.
But a TB raid will blow your internal hdd away.

To have a similar solution on an oMP you would need something like a caldigit raid card which was expensive and had driver issues with bootcamp and so on. I think external raid is completely fine. It will allow you to transition more comfortable to a new computer one day when you need one too. For me it's been perfect, I'm moving from a 2012 imac to the nMP and nothing changes, cause I already have all my data on a Pegasus r6 and a drobo 5d, just need to attach them to the nMP and everything will be up and running :)

My biggest disappointment with the nMPro is Apple didn't take into account February 2014 is not a leap year. I wanted to wait one more day to get my December 20th ordered nMPro.

As Tom Petty once sang, "The Waiting is the hardest part!"
