What is your PERFECT Apple laptop?

I'm bored in class, so heres the question:
If Apple came to me and asked "What are the PERFECT specs for a laptop?" here is what id tell them:

13" Macbook Pro
13" high def glossy screen (1920 x 1080)
200GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
4GB RAM
Some sort of RAM setup for HD prefetching and quick startup
Some sort of dedicated graphics chip
USB2, FW800, FW400, and e.SATA expansion ports
EXPRESSCARD/34 slot
802.11n/Bluetooth capability
Built in EVDO or EDGE card
Sub 5lbs weight
Optical Drive- 2x Bluray Write, 8x DVD DL write, >8x DVD write, >24x CD Write
The ability to run Windows XP in a fast-switch type enviroment
:D

What would yours entail? Lets here em!
 
13.3" MBP with a more durable metal enclosure
2.33 Ghz core 2 duo
1440x900 (1920 x 1080 is way too high a resolution on a 13" screen)
120 GB 5400 RPM HD
2 GB RAM
nvidea 7900go graphics
USB 2.0 and FW 400
EVDO or EDGE card
802.11 g/n
bluetooth
8x DL DVD burner
sub 4 lbs. :eek:

Similar to yours, but I want a sturdier case and an nvidea 7900go. I also don't care about many of the high-end features you list (4 GB RAM, blueray, expresscard slot, etc).

Add the Core 2 Duo to my list as well, lol. Hopefully with OS X 10.5's resolution independence small 1080p screens will be practical.

this just made me laugh.

under 1 lb for all that! holy moly! :eek: they can't even get 1TB in the iMac yet and the Mac Pro is limited to 16GB RAM.

i won't even comment on the 100 GHz suggestion.

dual Intel 64-core chip,

Drive that holds back up of Google,
GPS built in,
Slide out tea cup holder.
 
One that comes with a hot redhead and a hot russian chick who dig each other, my girlfriend and me.

That would be perfect.
 
As long as we're dreaming...

How long until a 12" MBP with... a screen that unfolds to about a 20" size? (Of course, you could still use it folded for tight spaces).

Then as my next upgrade, I'd hold out for either the virtual holographic display, or perhaps the direct neural interface.

Sub 4 pound 13.3" laptop with a 7900go in it........ that would be something, wouldn't it?

Ah pianoman drink your milk and cookies and go back to bed.

In ten years time,

That machine is the Apple Portable from 1989, weighted 17 pounds,

and had

no backlight in the screen,
no wireless,
no ethernet,
16 Mhz CPU chip,
1 MB RAM,
40 MB HD,
no modem,
no camera,
no lots of other gadgets you have in a MacBook Pro

It cost over $7,300 in 1989 dollars

Today's Macbook Pro is about 1000 x faster, 2000 x more RAM, 4000 x HD space, 1/7 the volume, and 1/6 the raw price.

What machine will we have in 10 - 15 years time?

That wold be sweet, but just one amendment, core 10 quadro:D
 
I liked the look of the original Titanium PowerBooks.

They were really nice.

The case would be like that - 13 inches is good for the screen - but I may want a tad higher resolution than the current MacBooks.

Widescreen is a good idea and definitely the way to go.

Except for the paint chipping, top case cracking, hinges breaking part of them :p

FREE would be my perfect laptop.
 
A intellized version of the old Powerbook 12", with a better screen of course! I found that it was always just the right size for a portable.
