My Ideal Mac(Book Pro):

-Black invincible anodized aluminum enclosure that's 1/2" thin.
-Somewhere between MacBook and 15" MacBook Pro sizes with the screen taking up almost the whole inside with only a tiny lip around it.
-A 200 megapixel iSight that sees through my screen.
-1,000 core 5,000,000,000 TeraFLOPS processor.
-40 Tb of RAM.
-250 Petabytes of solid state instant access data storage (don't really need RAM).
-Dual 15.4" touch screens (one as display, one as input and such) both with a resolution so high that it could emulate any image flawlessly.
-A built in reactor that would never run out of fuel.
-No heat issues.
-Lot's of sensors.
-A decent pair of speakers that could emulate any sound flawlessly.
-Adaptive ports that would change to fit any plug.
-Flawless voice recognition that could even read my mind and perform any command I gave it and also have a personality.
-Flawless adaptive copy of Mac OS whatever.
-The spirit of Steve Jobs would live on my desktop.
-And the apple on the back is also a laser.

That should do me for a while :D:apple::D

all i want is a mac convertable tablet with a higher resolution and ill be happy!!!
mmmm....

14.1" Macbook (White)
HD matte screen (1920 x 1080)
200GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
2GB RAM
ANY dedicated graphics chip
USB2, FW800, FW400, HDMI
802.11n/Bluetooth capability
Superdrive

17" MBP with WUXGA, LED-Backlit
Whatever speed Core2Quad
512MB VRAM
Blu-Ray Drive
Tablet functionality to the trackpad
250GB 5400rpm Drive + 16/32 GB flash drive for on-the-go lower power consumption.
Replace DVI with DisplayPort
Built-in HDTV tuner - built-in port for dongle for attaching cables/breakout box.

No banding, yellowing, cracking, creaking, mooing, whining, complaining, overheating, flaking.

Instead of a laptop, the iWatch, should look something like this:

Pulsar_1.jpg

My Macbook pro would be

3 pounds
14" High Res Screen
1TB hard drive
16 GB of Ram
Two Blue Ray/DVD Burners (with the one existing slot)
1GB Graphics card
Two 3GHz Quad Core Processors

all for $1499 :p

maybe someday

being a little more *reasonable*...

- 17" LED-lit (without the yellowing!) high-res display, glossy with anti-glare coating (like prescription glasses) and 3M privacy filter built-in
- SR is fine, honestly. But the fastest possible.
- Some 512MB nvidia graphics card
- 4GB RAM in two slots with a third open slot
- Aluminum enclosure is fine (though I'd get laser etching on it to make it pritty!)
- at least 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 on each side), preferably split onto 2 busses so that I could have an external HDD connected as well as my iPod/iPhone without sharing the same bus
- 2 FireWire 800 ports
- Gigabit ethernet
- analog/optical sound in and out
- 3 stereo microphones with ambient noise reduction (there is no reason why they couldn't put one under each speaker grille and one next to the iSight!)
- beautiful lit keyboard of course, but with white, red, green, and blue LEDs so that you can pick any color in the spectrum to light the keyboard! (for just a few bucks more, this would be cool IMHO)
- accelerometer
- BT 2.0+EDR, DUAL 802.11n antennas, and WiMax built-in
- ATSC antenna and tuner built-in (it's all MPEG anyway!!)
- ExpressCard slot
- New Apple remote with both IrDA and Bluetooth (and obviously an IrDA port on the laptop)
- 2+ MP iSight with integrated swivel (internal, no moving external parts)
- 200GB/7200rpm 2.5" HDD (hot-swappable from bottom a la battery :D )
- 20GB Hitachi solid-state NAND flash drive (for operating system and basics)
- large touchpad area that can double as 4"x5" tablet (Wacom-style), and ALSO hidden integrated fingerprint biometrics reader
- locking latch like current MBPs, NOT THE MAGNETIC ONE LIKE MACBOOKS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Maybe even a bit spring-loaded more than the current MBPs.

That... would be perfect. And reasonable!

My perfect Mac would be a Macbook with good plastics that don't crack.

The Macbook is a great machine, with some pretty serious design flaws. Fix those, and it would be just about perfect.

My perfect Mac would be a Lenovo X61 running the latest OS X.

Why has apple abandoned all the 12" powerbook users?

Do they assume we want the new over weight pigs?

Count me as another "vote" for the PB 12" form factor, etc. I've felt so tempted to make the jump to Intel, but lately I've felt even more attached to my PB. I'd be quite happy with a 12" MBP with the iSight, 802.11n, MagSafe, etc.

The mighty PowerBook 12". It was an awesome computer, but just couldn't match the speed of the new intels. I had to make the jump for raw processing power. If they had a 12" with the sweet features of my MacBook....oooh, it'd be fantastic. Granted the widescreen is nice, so they might have to do something there.

MacBook plus decent graphics card, durability of the aluminum enclosure, and Blu-Ray = perfection.

I honestly see NO reason why they dropped the 12" form factor from the lineup.

IMHO it was THE perfect machine. People say the Macbook was the replacement for the 12" PB, but lets face it, one can't to true 'pro' work on that machine. FCP, Photoshop work, psh, forget it.

Given current tech my dream-mbp would look like this:

- 15" @ 1680x1050, matte, led-backlit and with an ips or va panel
- 4gb RAM (ddr2-800)
- 2.4ghz Core2duo
- GeForce 8700M 512mb (with good drivers)
- Largest 7200rpm available (currently the Hitachi 7K200 200gb)
- Current MBP design (the aluminium pb/mbp design is already one of the few timeless classics in computer history)
- FireWire ports on the left side
- ExpressCard-Slot on the right side
- CD-R/RW, DVD+-R/RW/RAM, BluRay capable optical drive
- Usable onboard speakers (at least as good as on the old PBs)
- Better cooling for the left palm-rest/hdd and the area around the left speaker
- Best possible battery in that form-factor

I think apple could have fit a 14.1" screen in the macbook enclosure. With that said...

0.7" Magnesium Alloy or Black anodized steel macbook-sized enclosure
14.1" With 1440 x 900 Display Resolution
2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
Dedicated Graphics Card
USB 2.0 x3
4GB Ram
200GB 7200 RPM HD
Superdrive
Firewire 800
Mini DVI
Macbook-style backlit Keyboard
All-In-One Media Card Reader

ok

13.3" Macbook Pro
13.3" glossy screen
200GB Hard Drive
2GB RAM
Graphics for Sims 2!
USB2(4x ports), FW800, FW400(2x ports)
802.11n/Bluetooth capability
Superdrive

For $1749.99 cnd

I wouldn't buy it ;)

a 15incher with more than two USB ports.
I've been thinking about that but doesn't a USB hub provide a cleaner desktop anyway? I mean connecting 6 USB devices to your laptop or only one hub and everything else into that?
