And in regards to the subject :
What makes it worth going from 12.9 1st gen to 12.9 2nd gen?

For me 512 GB storage size would be enough since My 12.9" FG is killing me because of its low storage of 256 GB.

I'm staying with the 1st gen 12.9. It's a great device and TrueTone isn't enough of a reason to drop $800 on a new device.

Well, mine JUST arrived via FedEx, so I'll be off to my daughter's in a bit to use her wifi to get my old one backed up and load up the new one! Can't wait!!
Will you be keeping the original or selling it?

I spend a couple dozen hours a week doing illustration work with my gen 1 iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and the painting app Procreate. Since I bought them they've quickly become some of my most essential professional tools. The performance/responsiveness is already very good, but a few hundred bucks to upgrade for an even smoother experience (120hz, more CPU/GPU) is easily worth it. Looking forward to trying it later today.

What on the new iPad Pro makes it worth it for you to upgrade from the 1st gen to the 2nd? I have been trying to reason with myself that keeping the 1st gen is a good idea, since I think I've at least decided downsizing to a 10.5 is NOT a good idea (for me anyway), but now I am thinking I really want the new one dangit.

What about the new one is really worth the upgrade? I have a 128 gb now, and don't know that I'd need 512 gb, so I'm not sure that can really factor into my decision.

If you're going from a 1st gen to 2nd gen, why?

My 2nd gen 12.9 arrives today (my wife is happily receiving my 1st gen)

Reasons why I upgraded:

120hz screen refresh for insanely smooth scrolling, animations, etc
TrueTone
Updated TouchID (1st gen the old TouchID, and when you're used to the speed of the newer TouchID, that sucks)
512GB :O
Faster CPU/GPU, etc

Those are all important to me. That said, even if the only changes were the screen and the TouchID, I'd have upgraded.

P.S.: Someone else just posted Gruber's review of the new Pro if you're still not convinced:
