Tonight it's Batman (1989). I don't care what anyone says, but IMO Michael Keaton was the best Batman.

Agreed. I must say that I really liked him in that movie.

Oh and he has the coolest looking Batmobile too.

Yes, agreed.

Totally agree. And let's not forget Kim Basinger. And Jack of course. Also he has a voice I can deal with as well. :D

I really missed all the goth in the contemporary Gotham City...

And again, agreed.

Anton Furst deservedly won an Oscar for his set designs on that movie. I'm an historian and I loved that decadent Gothic design - it was extraordinarily atmospheric. (And yes, needless to say, Jack was the epitome of cool and Kim Basinger a very good - and strong - female lead).

Anton Furst? Good to know! Only set designer I know of is Ken Adams and that's quite a shame.

Yes, and apparently, Anton Furst (who had an amazing talent) also designed the Batmobile which was used in that (and the subsequent Batman) movie.

On subsequent inspection, Mr Google further informs me he also did the sets for 'Full Metal Jacket' and 'The Company of Wolves'; (I had remembered his Oscar for the original 'Batman' movie myself as I was bowled over by the surreal and haunting take on Gotham City.)

Tragically, he took his own life not long after winning the Oscar for his stunning set on the original Batman movie.

Company of Wolves, eh? Never heard of it, but sounds like a decent appetizer for one of these rare [WW] rallies....next time I'm watching Full Metal Jacket I'll have an eye on the set design. Only thing I know is that Adams, besides his beautiful 007 works, did worked with Kubrick on Dr. Strangelove / The War Room. Interesting, may have a search about some literature covering Mr. Furst then.

Swingers- A 1996 comedy featuring a young Vince Vaughn that proves that he's been playing "Vince Vaughn" from the start. Translation- he plays the same character in every movie I've seen him in. The first significant movie I remember him in and liked him was Wedding Crashers, but Vince, it's time to move onto a new character motif! :p

Watched the crime caper movie Topkapi (1964) about stealing a priceless dagger from a museum in Istanbul. I liked this movie as a teen, but now it seems uneven. Shocking for 1964 and a lead character (Melina Mercouri) who describes herself as a nymphomaniac. However the movie is PG fare if that.

Watching Half Nelson. Awesome movie! If the other Gosling movies are only half as good, I may develop a little man-crush here...

^^^Superman is a great movie, I should put it on again soon. But tonight it's Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World.

The Rainmaker (1997)- Good courtroom drama based in Memphis, Tn about a new idealistic, inexperienced lawyer (Matt Damon) facing an insurance company and an army of old pros.

Ruthless People (1986) hilarious comedy starring Danny DeVito, Bette Midler, Bill Pullman, and Judge Reinhold about a couple trying to ransom a bad bosse's wife for an idea he stole that made him rich.

Signs (2002)- Last good movie I remember seeing Mel Gibson in. M. Night Shyamalan's best work. Since then, his movies have gone down hill. Although I liked "The Happening" (2008), it did not quite click for me.

The Italian Job (1969)- Just could not get into its style. Very 60s feel, although that is not always bad. Not used to seeing Michael Caine this young. :)

Just saw Django unchained last night, what a crazy ass movie. Tarantino is not human, is a god, that's for sure. Loved every second of it, nice soundtrack also!

"You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention!" :D

I have long loved Quentin Tarantino's soundtracks; indeed, I have the soundtracks to 'Reservoir Dogs', 'Pulp Fiction' (which includes the extra tracks) and 'Jackie Brown' all on CD, and all are excellent.

The soundtrack to 'Django Unchained' looks really interesting, although I think that not all of what is played in the movie appears on the released soundtrack. Nevertheless, I shall order it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie. For my part, I look forward to seeing it for myself sometime soon.

I was made to see Movie 43........It was like a 100 different shades of ***** I have never been so bored watching a film I could rant on for ages about how bad this film was, me and my mate must have walked out after prob 30 minuets if that. We both asked for a refund or to see another film for free, we got to see another film for free and a complimentary big drink and pop corn :) and we saw The Last Stand which was a lot better :).

Any particular reason why the following movie poster has the name of the movie on a woman's crotch? Or did you stay long enough to figure that out, lol? It's got a low rating at IMDB.

Nah It was like 20 or so minuets and we left so I dunno about that but I herd that Anna Faris was in it so we dodged the bullet on that one because she is just terrible, but to make things worse my mate had seen the trailer for the film the night before and still he suggested we see it.

Saw "The 39 Steps" again last night. Worth seeing to see Hitchcock before his days in Hollywood.

His cinematography was not bad. Some of the off center camera work was pretty good at that point in his career..they had some meaning in terms of character and/or plot development. This was unlike his later films, where his camera work was self indulgent, self stimulatory showing off...."look at me, the Master of Suspense, and my incredibly creative camera work, which really means nothing at all".

Two of his trademark elements, later to become overworked clichés, are evident in this film...the McGuffin, and the "wrong man" theme. Fairly original and interesting here, later to become part and parcel of his glossy, bloated, repetitious and, to me, non-suspenseful films.

This film, although not great by any standard, is worth seeing just to experience the promise that he showed in his early films, before, as Andre de To the put it..."he became fat... physically and intellectually".

Just watched Mirror Mirror and was pleasantly surprised at this retelling of the Snow White fairy tale. The dialog, effects and twists made me forget the fact that I knew the ultimate ending and allowed me to just the ride.

I just watched Looper. Still not a fan of Bruce Willis, but I recommend it!

I'm just the opposite; I am a fan of Bruce, but I thought Looper was meh. It had a lot of potential to be much better, but I thought there was a lot of long slow parts in it. I found myself getting bored several times during the flick.
