The Witch (2015)

Extremely well made horror film set in New England during the 1600's. A classic horror story that doesn't rely on jump scares & cheap tricks. Really good watch, perfect for those long dark winter nights...👹

Superb action, crime, drama's well worth the watch as long as you are good with the language and or subtitles. Hollywood could lean a lot from such productions. Powerful & stylish performance's all round with all three films being strong watches...

Being in a masochistic mood, I just finished watching one of the most horrendously terrible movies I’ve seen in a long time. It is a slow motion train wreck that you cannot pull away from. The Twonky a 1953 comedy science fiction movie with Hans Conried (who I generally enjoy).

The Twonky is about a TV set that comes “alive” and that is eventually postulated to be a maleficent robotic alien from the future.

If you want to share my agony, you can watch this movie on YouTube. Or perhaps just stick needles into you eyes instead. 😩

Just watched Charade again. Great older film with Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant and Walter Matthau. A suspense mystery set in Paris. Evidently there was a mixup with the renewal of the copyright, so the film is now in the public domain so it’s available for viewing or downloading from a huge multitude sources.

I didn’t remember most of the plot twists so it made rewatching it much more enjoyable. One thing I noticed is you can tell this film is older since almost all the characters constantly smoking a cigarette.

The Stand (1994)

While originally released as a mini series, is easily stitched together into a single full length feature. The Stand is one of the best if not the best adaption of Stephen King's work for the screen. Lengthy but well worth the watch, more so if you've read the book. These days I prefer The Stand as a full length feature and break where and when I please :)

Giant (1956)- Classic greatness. Possibly the best movie about Texas ever made for the following reasons. Texas culture circa early 20th Century, prejudice, social inequality, although brief, realistic historical perspective about the origins of Texas from Bick Benedict’s wife (Liz Taylor), and the transformation of a large ranch owner under the influence of his wife from Maryland who regards these Texans as cave men, their wives treated like glorified children, but she is smart enough to navigate the Texas waters. James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, best performances!
🙂
