Rewatching F1 The Movie for the umpteenth time. Just fun and some nice racing scenes. A pleasure watching Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem with some solid supporting actors.

Killer's Kiss (1955)
1785842925675.png

Davey Gordon, a New York City boxer at the end of his career, falls for dancer Gloria Price. However, their budding relationship is interrupted by Gloria’s violent boss, Vincent Rapallo, who has eyes for Gloria. The two decide to skip town, but before they can, Vincent and his thugs abduct Gloria, and Davey is forced to search for her among the most squalid corners of the city, with his enemy hiding in the shadows.

Not bad for effectively a one man production being; co-produced, & co-written by Stanley Kubrick. He also was the cinematographer and editor of the film. Killer's Kiss was shortly followed up by the superb The Killing (1956)

Career criminal Johnny Clay recruits a sharpshooter, a crooked police officer, a bartender and a betting teller named George, among others, for one last job before he goes straight and gets married. But when George tells his restless wife about the scheme to steal millions from the racetrack where he works, she hatches a plot of her own.

The Mist (2007)
1785878461286.png

Fear changes everything... After a violent storm, a dense cloud of mist envelops a small Maine town, trapping David Drayton and his five-year-old son in a local grocery store with other local residents. They soon discover that the mist conceals deadly horrors that threaten their lives, and worse, their sanity.

This is a film that's best watched with no prior knowledge, or at least as little as possible. As any critique, explanation or expansion of the storyline will only serve to spoil both the narrative & ending...

One of those rare cases in which the movie is better than the book.

The black and white version (same movie, decolorized) is even better as it makes it 100% lovecraftian.

I recently watched it and I liked it! There a few walking dead alums in the movie as well as the director.

Messiah of Evil (1974)
1785965964091.png

A young woman searching for her missing artist father finds herself in the strange seaside town of Point Dune, which seems to be under the influence of a mysterious undead cult.

A classic of 70's horror; Messiah of Evil is an eerie & unsettling nightmare. Taking inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft amongst others that leans more towards art than shock. It contains a sense that this earth is not quite your version of earth and as the realisation sinks in, the sense of dread grows...

The big surprise was for those who had read the book first…
