I recently switched from an Evo.

Missing Google Nav, but want to find a solid replacement.

Comments might help me out!

I am recommending the same thing MacDawg did. Navigon is by far the best navigation app I have ever used. If you don't want to spend that much money, Waze is nice. Not nearly as nice as Navigon is but it still is turn by turn.

Tom Tom, got it on sale for 39.99, look once in a while you can get it for that price.

I second that. If I can remember correctly, I bought Tom Tom in Christmas of 2008 or 2009. Its very cheap and you can even use the app without the docking station if you are using iPhone 4 or 4S

I've been using Waze and have been extremely satisfied.. is there anything taht Tom Tom or Navigon does that Waze doesn't do?

Seems like Waze is too good to be true (free and great and accurate turn by turn directions)

MotionX GPS Drive.

Tom Tom stores the maps on the phone so you don't need cell service for it to work, some of the free ones don't so you always needs cell service for it to work.

What you're specifically looking for in a nav app would really help rather than using the shotgun polling approach.

Navigon is by far the best navigation app I have ever used.
Of which apps? And what, specifically, makes it best in your opinion?

I actually have both TomTom and Navigon and have yet to decide.

Mapquest, been using it for a while now and works great for me and its FREE.

Not sure if they changed it, but if you miss a turn it doesn't recalculate or tell you. Again the free map apps do not store the maps on the phone so if you don't have cell signal, you don't have maps.

Sygic UK & Ireland - not free

Used it for a few long trips and it has done quite well, has all the features you expect.

TomTom was too expensive for me.

I use Navigon too, but the location entry is atrocious. Make sure to get something like Navigon Now for a front end.

Navigon is great while plsying music. There is a music icon so that you can quickly switch between the 2 apps. It will overlay the directions over the music. Not sure about phone calls though. Don't talk when you are driving anyway ;)

I use only TomTom.

I tried all the pay navigation apps and gave up using them after just a few days. TomTom is the best in my opinion. I waited till it was $34.99 during the summer to buy it and have been happy with it ever since.
