I said I'd hold off but who am I kidding...:p

If I can find a Pencil in stock at a local Apple Store, I'm goin to get a 128GB iPad Pro. Think I'm going to go all in and sell my 15" rMPB and see how much of my workflow I can do just using the iPP. I'm not ditching computers entirely as I have a Mac Mini (2012 Server version) and a couple MBAs in our household but find I don't need to do 'heavy lifting' quite as often so it'll be an interesting exercise.

I bought into this new gym accessory which is a heart rate sensor you wear on a belt and a watch to monitor it. Now every time I go to the gym everyone can see how hard I'm working out or lazy I'm being (my name and workout is on multiple to screens around the gym) Hopefully it will incentivise me to not put on any of the extra Christmas weight we are all susceptible too this time of year.

WOW! That is going all in. I would love to read your thoughts when you push all in. I was going to do the same after watching the IPP keynote. But have had second thoughts.
But I would love to read how someone else's experiences doing what i was contemplating.

Yeah, not really diving in head first since I'll have immediate access to a Mac if needed but I'd like to but Apple's feet to the fire and see if I really can use the iPP as sort of a laptop replacement. My use case is admittedly closer to general consumer vs. professional but I use my Air 2 quite a lot so we'll see if I can make it work.

Worse case scenario, the iPP goes back and I keep the rMPB....or if I've sold it outright, I may get to buy a brand new Mac. :D

That's quite a commitment ... Not one I think I'd make. If I could only have one or the other I would keep the rMBP - but everyone's usage and needs are different. I do know a few people who don't have anything other than iPads (no desktop or laptop) and it does everything they want to do, so I know it can be done. But I still need access to my full Adobe suite and such. The iPad Pro does however work very well as an extra screen or companion screen with both Duet app or the AstroPad app with the rMBP :)

I'm with you there--if I didn't have other computers around, I'd wouldn't choose the iPP over the rMPB either. Figured now is a good time to try this little experiment thanks to Apple's extended returns window over the holidays.

Cool, so an arty person going all in with Apples arty device. It will be interesting to see how you get on buddy, if you can find a stylus /pencil lol.
You'll have to post your thoughts on the more restrictive apps and how they are, if they are restrictive.

Shocking thing is…NONE

I’ve got all the gadgets I need now and even though I was tempted by the pro I decided against it as it isn’t needed. I might get a smart cover for my ipad mini 4 or a watch band but that’s it. Tough times trying to save for a new house

Agreed, I personally would never choose the pro over the macbook as it's needed and you never know when you will need it for me. stuff I can do on my ipad I have different needs for my macbook.

iPhone 6s for the wife, to replace her aging iP5. On the lookout for holiday discounts or rebates to buy off-contract VZW at net less than full retail.

Nexus 5X for me, if I decide to keep it.

Gen 1? It's a decent band, but VERY uncomfortable to wear especially during sleep. No matter how loose I wear it, the blocky, awkward design still chafes my skin and leaves a nasty rashy look.

I've resorted to only wearing it during bike rides. Definitely a nice health band for the sale price, and it has GPS!
The Microsoft band is on sale at BB for $79.99, I might go for it.

Not really familiar with the MS Band. Specs don't show it being compatible with a Note 5/Android 5.x Is that true? WTF if so?

I have a Gear S and like it. Works well, but I like to switch things up and with Cortana and some other features, the MS Band looks interesting. Need it to work with my Note 5 and Android though.

Got a 128GB sim free rose gold 6S+ delivered yesterday. I had been thinking of getting this years Nexus but decided I wanted the iPhone instead.

It half-works with Android and iOS thru their Microsoft Health app. Cortana however does not work at all. It's a decent fitness band but not the best for notifications / phone integration without a Windows phone.

Sadly, Christmas was expensive this year. 1800 for a gaming laptop for my brother in law and about 600 for a tablet for my sister.

Alienware 15
Dell Venue 10 7000 with keyboard

Both seem to be enjoying them.

I still don't know what to buy. So many enticing gadgets: ATV4 (to turn my old TV into a smart TV plus playing games with a game controller), MacBook, MacBook Air 11 or 13, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 + keyboard, HP Envy 13 inch laptop, Pixel C + keyboard...

Most things aside from a laptop I don't need. I'm not sure whether to buy a laptop or a new tablet. I would use it to watch online classes, social networks, doing homework, etc. A laptop would obviously be better, but I kind of like the idea of a 10 inch tablet + keyboard (whether it's the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 or Pixel C). Other options would be the Surface Pro 3/4 or the iPad Pro, but iOS is not ideal for my use (I like having a file explorer and other Android features that make working easier and faster than on iOS).

Maybe a VR headset for my phone. Does a new couch count? Lol

Otherwise presents for the family.

You spent 1800 on your brother in law? 600 for sister?

I want to check into the smartphone controlled gadgets on the market. I rather spend on the Anki Overdrive than the BB8 robot. The Robotic Enhanced Vehicles (REV) also look interesting and only $69 on Amazon.
