I actually believe WhatsApp privacy policy that says that communication between private users is end-to-end encrypted. Apparently it's only if you use WhatsApp to communicate with companies that they collect data from you.
Yes, that’s exactly how it works. People are getting all paranoid and irrational over sensational news stories, like usual, lol.

Friends and family mainly all iPhone users, converted 3 die hard bloatsung family members from that hideous operating system known as bloatsung, said their never going back to a samsung phone after using the best operating system in the world known as iOS, mainly use iMessage have a few groups in WhatsApp as well, shame Facebook owns WhatsApp it is what it is though, i'd get rid of WhatsApp but have a few groups chats in there that I need to keep. 🤷‍♂️

Actually, you should know almost immediately if recipient has an iPhone. Your send button will be blue when you start typing. Sometimes that takes a bit longer for unknown reasons until they reply.
Holy cow, thank you! I didn't notice that until now. Although, mine doesn't turn blue, but has a speaker icon instead. Android users definitely have a green send button, though.

Despite only 2 of my contacts not haiving an iPhone only 0.29% of my contacts use iMessage, the rest use WhatsApp unfortunately.

about 1-2 don't use iPhones so I do get the odd few WhatsApp messages from but main family use iPhones so I use iMessage I would say 95% of the time. UK based as well not US lol

UK here; no one I know uses it except me and my girlfriend. Family, friends, work colleagues use whatsapp/snapchat/fb messenger regardless of OS.
Same. I'm in the UK. Only my mum and cousin use it but they prefer what's app so it doesn't get used much on my phone. However it is nice when I'm on another device like my Mac or iPad and I get an iMessage on there, particularly those ones where you need to enter a code.

My husband and dad will not be converted away from Samsung lol. At the same time my mum and cousin would never have anything which isn't an iPhone.

Most frequent contacts? 83% iMessage. A lot of my friends and family are overseas and with them, I normally use Facebook Messenger.

I like Apple's Messages app because I get both iMessage and SMS on all my Apple devices. Same for FB Messenger. Last time I used WhatsApp, it only worked on one device at a time.
