Umm, you do know that apple is providing an adapter in the box?
Does the adapter allow you to charge and listen at the same time? No it doesn't
Does the adapter create an extra cable you have to carry? Yes it does

So kind of apple to have the courage to include it.
iPhone 7. Change is inevitable man. Maybe you should read this: Who Moved My Cheese?
change is inevitable because apple told you so and that makes it okay

I'm highly considering the Note7. Is not just the headphone jack, is the somewhat uninspired everything else. In the end it will depend upon the camera quality on the iPhone 7.
The biggest thing for me is that the iPhone 7 feels like they aren't trying. It just Apple stalling until the 10th anniversary iPhone next year.
I expect my phones to last 2 years. I feel like buying an iPhone 7 will leave me overly disappointed early.

That curved glass Samsung is pretty cool. Not sure about it though. I'm too Apple oriented...unfortunately, apparently.

Unless there is a y adaptor made available, I'm kind of stuck. I don't really want to leave Apple but my 5S is on its last legs - I stretched to get here. How does everyone like their 6S? I guess I might have to head in that direction. So so bummed.

I'm waiting to see the new Nexus/Pixel. Failing that, Samsung S7 looks halfway decent.

In a perfect world, I would have a redesigned 4" iPhone SE that looks like the iPhone 6, but with no camera bulge or antenna lines, and significantly reduced bezels. Since this is hypothetical, I'd also include expandable storage and a better DAC. And then I'd eliminate the gimmicky bits -- Siri, Force Touch, Apple Music.

I basically want to redesign the iPhone so it doesn't suck anymore. Is that a good enough answer?

Ironically, I'm keeping my SE which does have a headphone jack but I never use it as I've used bluetooth headphones for ages

Hoping they bring out a 4" version of the 8 next year - moving from the huge 6S+ to the SE was the best thing I ever did :)

I'm switching to the 7+ when it's available.

My one use of the 3.5mm port was in the car, annoyingly whilst charging. So I'm either going to buy a 3.5mm/Power adaptor, or get a BT receiver.

My 6S is doing fine. The headphone jack thing seems to be more annoying than anything else right now, so we'll see what happens in 2017. If they release an iPhone with wireless charging that plays nice with my new Prius then I'll probably stick with iPhone. I like the Android Phones too, but I find them to be slightly more annoying than my iPhone. I guess we'll see how I feel in 2017.

I don't see anyone switching to the iPhone because the iPhone doesn't have a headphone jack, but I could see people switching to Android because they removed it.

If people using iPhones cannot accept that they are not only being supplied with a pair of EarPods that have a lightning connector, PLUS a rather conservative looking lighting to 3.5mm adapter, both at no extra cost......then I guess enjoy using old tech or move to android. Man, the things we choose to complain about these days lol.

i charge my phone while listening to music and watching music multiple times per week, sometimes when commuting on the train, sometimes while flying, and sometimes at the end of the day when the battery is low. I've also invested too much money in quality audio equipment (earphones, hifi, etc) that relies on the headphone port to want to get rid of them or deal with a bunch of dongles. I've also gotten used to quality earphones and can't stand the sound of apple's earbuds. Sure, beats will have some headphones that work with apple's new wireless system, but Beats are quite honestly **** in an expensive track suit.

My hope is that for those who wish to stay iPhone, and upgrade, a type of splitter will be made available to allow for simultaneous charging and listening. If that is even possible, which I have no idea if the tech capacity is currently there or not.

Not enough new "killer" or "deal maker" features for me versus the cost so not upgrading. My 6+ can go longer. End of the day overall functionality is more or less the same overall (save a few bells and whistles).

Would have really liked force touch but it isn't worth the Can$1400 for an unlocked 7+ with AC. Camera, nice but I don't need it. Waterproofness? Not that big a deal to me. Brighter screen would be nice at times but again not a game changer. Any of the other 10 things Phil the shill talked about didn't make a big enough impact on me to even remember what they are now.

I got a pair of BT earbuds that work just as well as any out there for $20 at Wal Mart. Its a wireless world now folks. Complaining about it isnt gonna bring the headphone jack back.

Sticking with my 128GB 6... really haven't had a single issue with it so far. No lag, no problems... ****, it's as responsive and great as the day I got it (upgraded from a 5 and the 3GS before that).
I have a Canon 6D that I use for any photos that matter (and still would, even with a 7+), I have a nice selection of very nice headphones that I use, and haptic touch never did anything for me.
But I know it will probably develop issues over time as iOS becomes less optimized for an older hardware platform. So maybe in 2018 I'll check out a new iPhone :)

Well, some people are fine with low-quality sound. If you can't tell the difference between your $20 Walmart BT earbuds and a pair of quality UE, Shures, B&W or Grado head/earphones, more power to you. The new iPhone offers no problems for you. It does for me, though!

There's zero difference.

I dunno what the big deal is with the headphone jack. A small adapter takes care of it and hardly any different to have that on the end of the headphone cord.

I'm already enjoying my Nexus 6P as primary smartphone and my iPhone 6S Plus as a nice secondary phone. That's a great way to enjoy first hand experience with both platforms.

Considering the poll in the other thread said 30% of us won't buy the new iPhone without a 3.5mm jack, I'm not sure I'd say a small minority...especially considering most here tend to be on the leading edge of tech.

Heck, if even 10% of expected iPhone buyers stay away because of it, it would be a big problem for Apple.
The poll was made before the announcement. Out of those 30% that said they won't buy 29% of them will be first to pre order.
This launch will not flop. It will sell more than the 6s 6s+ launch.
including the adapter and lightning headphones makes it a non issue now. Rare majority charge and listen and there will be adapters for that anyway.
