and what kind of "visual" reminder do you want? Flashy graphics? No need for that.

I don't see me responding to every "single sentence of every post in this thread"

You just showed a perfect example of what the iPad ios4 doesn't how by posting an example of an iPhone in the iPad forum. We are talking about iPad calendar and how it doesn't show wht day you tap on....so again, and how others have commented, your replies were pointless.

Seriously dude? Your trying to prove a point about the iPad by showing what the iPhone can do? Think before you post.. Seriously.

I don't know how anyone can argue that the calendar app (on the iPad) doesn't need some serious work..

iOS 4 is almost out, yet Apple hasn't said anything about when iOS 4 will be available to upgrade for iPad owners. Am I missing something? Anyone have a link to some more info on when iOS 4 is going to be available for iPad?

I believe when Apple announced 4.0 they said it would be available for the iPad in the fall.

I though it was weird how there is no selecting the right day to add events to on iPad too. Seems to work blind but should flash up blue like the illustration of the iPhone there. Weird.

What's with all these kids being disrespectful?

kids? really? And we are being disrespectful? Your responses are jibber jabber and make no sense so we are pointing it out. Please do not add nonsense to a useful thread.

On topic: To the post above, that is exactly what I am thinking. Why isn't there an indication of what day is selected. Goes back to what i was saying, there was a very small team working on iPad 3.2 so hopefully not that the teams have merged there will be significant differences in the native apps come iPad's 4.0

I really want Apple to make the iPad a bit less dependant on a computer, this will make it a real alternative to a Netbook or whatever.

+1

Especially activation and OS updates.

Requiring a mothership computer makes it less useful to millions of people.

I gave my mother an iPad but had to do all the setup myself before mailing it. It's got the usual annoying dependency on a single computer and iTunes.

We need folders RIGHT AWAY. We have so many pages with apps takes an hour to find the right app if you forget its name.

I will take full AVRCP support for stereo bluetooth and wireless podcast updating.

I just do not understand why apple insists on this "wagon wheel" idea for mobile devices. I get the idea that downloading over wifi uses battery juice. But the ipad has awesome battery life, not to mention the fact that an ipad does not charge when docked to a computer for syncing.

I would rather not have to find a place on my desk for this ipad to sync. I would much rather have it do it over wifi, hell give it the caveat that it must be charging for it to automatically sync. Zune has done this for years.

Multitasking and a fix for the damn wifi issue:mad:

This.

As awesome as the Pandora and NPR apps are I don't use them because I can't multitask. And as for the wifi issues, Youtube is pretty much useless because it takes 5 minutes to load a 2 minutes video.

I want them to write a new feature into iOS 4 that makes all iOS 4 devices sense the people around them, and those around me who don't have a Mac or Apple product get electro-shocked.

You keep saying this. Got your source?

You can also go to YouTube.com in safari on the iPad and be redirected to an enlarged mobile version running in HTML 5

sure chris lets see sources that only a small team of engineers were working on ipad OS.....hmm

Macrumors
gizmodo
engadget
numerous blogs
CNN
Foxnews.com

dude do a search for around the time that the ipad was launching the talk is all about how it was "so secret" that hardly anyone that worked at apple knew it was coming out.

Fox news? Your kidding me right? I don't quite remember Steve jobs mentioning anything "dude"

Come on... the man asked a question so lets answer it and stick to topic. One of you is older than the other so just drop the fight already... no point in doing so.
Anyways, I believe Apple released info on what iOS 4 will bring the iPad. If I'm wrong, pls correct me.

yeah your right cause steve jobs comes out and talks about every little detail of every little thing. no one but steve jobs himself is credible. So every technician and engineer was involved in the ipad os. they all managed to keep it a better secret than the iphone 4. your right chris you win...dude

Besides the calander issue somewhat works. You double tap the day and it gets highlighted. Only to be brought to the day view.

Without delving into the name calling and general immaturity this thread has devolved into, I do want to add this:

Chris, the story about the iPad team working on a fork of 3.2 separate from the iOS4 development was pretty widely reported. I spent a couple minutes in TUAW's archives to see if I could find it with no luck.

Here are my two cents.

We can expect everything we've seen in IOS4 so far, but I have a feeling the implementation will be a lot different. For one, what will App Switching look like? It probably won't look like IOS4 for iPhone does. The rumors mentioned that IOS4 will have an "expose-like" app switcher, but that seems more appropriate for the iPad, right?

Also... I think we'll see widgets. I truly believe that they're likely gearing up for some sort of iPad version of DashBoard. Why would they make us wait if they weren't gearing up for some new version of the IOS SDK to test against iPads? Imagine it: instead of a small row of Icons in the app switcher, you either get a screen shot of the running app, or you get a developer-written status widget!

(If I'm wrong, sue me... but it's been too long for them not to be at least planning something like this. It's also the only way I can think of they can implement app switching without using the boring row of icons. Eh, I shouldn't get my hopes up as they'll probably just go with a row of icons.)

...

Printing support will probably not be till ios5 and will be through printer sharing on a Mac so they don't need to worry about all the bs printer drivers the stupid printer companies come up with. They will probably add some more multitouch gestures to it then, eventually they will release their new television set, and a new apple tv if you want to use the set you have. That will have live tv served through the data center in north Carolina via the internet and ads served through iad so the networks can serve directly to the customer instead of through cable companies and unlike iTunes it will be ad supported and therefore free (with some monthly fee to apple for the service no doubt). At the same time the multitouch trackpad will be released for controlling it via Bluetooth (because noone wants to use a keyboard and mouse on their couch and steve hates multiple controllers) or you can use the free app for your iPhone or iPad to do the same multitouch control of your tv. Watch the d8 interview and tell me that's not happening

... not to mention the fact that an ipad does not charge when docked to a computer for syncing.

It does on newer computers with high power USB ports. On older computers and peripheral ports (hubs, keyboards, etc) the iPad may sync but not charge. Charges fine when plugged into my Mac Mini.
