Time to see what phones people are using to kick off the New Year.

My Nexus 4 hasn't changed but the battery seems to be getting worse. If I want it to last me through the night, most of the time I'll have to bump charge by mid to lat afternoon. It's starting to get annoying. I have no other complaints aside from the camera but that hasn't changed in the year that I've had this phone. Performance is still golden and does everything I need it to. It hasn't slowed down one bit which is very impressive. Apps still load instantly.

Same one I had three days ago: the iPhone 5s.

I look forward to 2014 and iOS 8, because I know my phone will be getting it. Not so sure if your Nexus handset will be eligible for the next version of Android. Maybe I should care a little more since I am a GOOG shareholder. (My AAPL position is larger.)

I don't expect Apple to do anything in 2014 that will magically convey superior hardware specs to my 2013 handset.

Anyhow, happy 2014.

His Nexus 4 will get the next android version.

Nexus 4 came with 4.2 and has received two updates. Three is common for android devices.

And he will ever get two more updates thanks to the rom community.

On the other hand, the iPhone 5S won't get every new feature Apple releases in their next updates.

On my GS4/One/5S combo.

I still prefer the GS4 by far.

I've been wanting to pick up a GN3, but I'm not sure anymore. Maybe I'll just wait until May, sell both the One and GS4, and pick up the GS5?

Can you explain how you juggle three phones? Do you have 3 SIMs or do you swap your SIM?

Btw, using my LG G2 I bought a month ago, works fine. May be contemplating purchasing a Nexus 5, will see how.

Longtime iPhone user, switched to GNote 2 for about 8 months before coming back to the iPhone 5s a couple of months ago.

One nano-sim (ATT) that I use a micro sim adapter with. I basically switch between the devices, when I get bored, etc. Honestly, it's almost always my GS4. That's my primary line that I pay for.

I have a TMo sim I carry around when I travel to test coverage. That usually goes in the One or 5S

My work provides me with a VZW Mi-Fi. That I just throw into my backpack and use when needed.

Good choice! You'll love it. It's a great little device.

Nexus 5 here. I really like it. Sometimes I wish I would have stuck with the Moto X, but I love the screen on the Nexus. Hopefully, the next flagship Motorola will have a better screen.

Still on my returned-to-duty 4S which I brought out 3 months ago after getting too annoyed with my former love the Note 2. But it feels like the re-honeymoon is about to be over, as I'm beginning to remember why I stopped using iPhones in the first place.

I had this situation while on holiday abroad where I needed to download a work file at a café with wifi, and then bring it back to my PC which I'd left in a place with no internet, do some urgent work on it and return to the café to send to work. Only had my iPhone on me - so of course that didn't go very well. Which just felt so dumb. Not sure I can stand having a "smart" phone without an accessible file system/browser anymore.

The second thing I'm getting just too fed up with is typing on the iPhone. As soon as I need to write anything longer than a two word sentence, I curse every second that I can't pull out my trusty Swype gestures. When I first went back to the 4S it felt like this wouldn't be such a big deal after all, but now it is.

It's good to have more experience now though, feels like I'm slowly pinning down exactly what it is I want my phone to be able to do. So, Samsung and Apple phones are both looking quite unlikely as future choices (unless something huge happens with the iP6). I have a feeling my next stop will be a N5.

iPhone 4S (2 years old with 1 or 2 replacement screens and one replacement wifi chip! Cottage industry for iOS device repairs has made repairing the thing pretty cheap)

By the way, I wonder if monthly is too frequent for this thread (people might lose interest as month to month changes will only be minor). Perhaps quarterly would be better with you adding a comment at the end of the old quarter's thread to alert people when the new one is up. Just a thought.

My Exemplary Nexus 5.

A distant fourth (yes, I maintain four active lines & current smartphones) my diminutive iPhone 5S.

Still rocking the MotoG, waiting for my KitKat update when its released for the international unlocked variant.

Still the best budget phone out there that I've used so far.

Still not unlocked it for custom firmware but I've been looking into it.

Why would anyone invest money in apple now?

Oh and. Nexus 5
