Nexus 5 :) rooted but otherwise stock

Came from a GS3 that I got used from eBay... That was a trade over from a 4S

I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping the N5 for a looong time as long as the battery can keep its charge. The only reason I really got off GS3 was I wasn't thrilled with the camera and the N5 is definitely a step forward with that

This Nook HD+I'm writing this on that froze and had to reboot in the middle of writing this post... That's another story ;(

HTC One dev edition, soon to be....

....iPhone 5S.

Can you tell me more about this change? I'm very keen on getting the HTC One (got the iPhone 5S currently), and very interested why you would want to make that move.

This post in another thread explains most of my reasoning for switching.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the HTC One, easily my favorite Android device and while I considering trying a Nexus 5 because I generally prefer stock Android, I don't think there is presently a better built Android phone--great materials, top notch display, best speakers to be found on a phone, just feels great to hold. I don't mind Sense 5.0 and find what HTC has added to be pretty useful (camera features, Blinkfeed). HTC has also kept their promises so far and been fairly quick with updates and the unlocked Developer Edition I have is supposed to see KitKat within a couple weeks. If I was going to use an Android phone right now, it would still be the HTC One. And I still use my Nexus 7 so I'll still be using Android regularly going forward.

I finally moved my SIM to my old 4S and am actually very happy with it. It's a bit slow to do certain things of course, but otherwise quite snappy and feels like a current generation phone with iOS 7 on it.

My Note 2 has been reassigned to portable tablet duty using Wi-Fi hotspot tether from the iPhone, and the combo works very well.

Wow. I could have written that post myself, I feel exactly the same, have the same minor irritations and use my phone for pretty much the same things. iOS does everything perfectly for me - I simply find the design of the HTC One irresistible and that's why I am considering getting one.

LG G2 & Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I should have my 64GB iPhone 5S Gold this Wednesday.

How you finding tha g2

which you prefer out of the note and g2?

----------

Still my GS4 and One combo.

Going to sell both in Jan. and pick up a GN3.

other than that, I don't see anything worth buying. The N5 is nice, but reports of poor camera and bad battery life are making me skip it.

Since LG resale is worthless, maybe I should pick up a used G2 soon. They're already under $400 now.

I agree with that

I can more money for my iPhone 4s 32gb compared to the LG G2

----------

wow the note is massive lol

----------

may i ask...how do you set pics and music to automatically go to dropbox and not store on your phone?

I'm using my Nexus 4 right now! I got it when they reduced its price by $100 on the Google Play Store in September.

I'm using a Nexus 4. Was thinking about a Nexus 5, but then I got a new Mac, so that purchase got deferred. I may sell this phone come Jan and pick up a Moto G. I really like the idea of spending about $200 per year on a decent mid range phone.

I thought about getting a Moto G as well. Not to replace my Nexus 4 per se but just to have another phone. The only thing I can't really swallow is the 1gb of RAM after having 2gb for the past year. I like the breathing space. Everything else on the G is fine. Hell I still might get one.

You are right though. Spending $2-300 a year on a decent phone is a nice thought. The Nexus 5 is cheap enough you could even throw that in there.

If you're going to do this monthly, can I suggest you add an OS poll at the start of each thread (Android, iOS, WP, other). Would be interesting to see the distribution and how that changes over time.

I'm using 4S.

I'm using 4S.

Good idea, I'd like to see that too.

Is the difference in RAM apparent during the daily usage of the phone? I would like to think that they optimized the Moto G to run smoothly already. If not, wait till the update to 4.4 KitKat, since they optimized the software to run better on phones with less RAM.

I would wait for some time before buying the Nexus 5 if I were you. The battery complaints of this phone are too rampant; it'll be wise to wait for a future software update that fixes that before purchasing it. :)
