This is my desktop. Given the display is much wider than it is tall it makes more sense to me to have a vertical dock.

I’ve never understood having the dock at the bottom since we’ve been widescreen. Such a waste of vertical space. Have to say, for years I’ve simply hidden the dock as well as placing to the side. I don’t really ever use it.
