I'm still on my atv1 , the loss of the HDD was an upgrade killer.

If I can't load a selection of films onto it, then take it around to friends for movie night, I'm not interested

for the records, taking the ATV2 on my pocket is easier than taking the ATV, and using myplex I stream my library anywhere there is an internet connection. But i do get your point. I would not count on a HD option on ATV3 or any future device, so you may get stuck on ATV1 for a while.

1080p. Ability to correctly play the videos I've ripped from BluRay already. The current ATV stutters quite a bit.

App Store - must have
A5 or better - like to have
a little more flash memory - like to have

That said, I'm thinking Apple has a little more in store for us WRT the AppleTV. Hopefully, it'll blow us away.

Hopefully, US$99. :p

Seriously, apps. If it had the ability to run HBO GO, VLC and other similar apps, not necessarily games etc...

i'm not sure what it would take for me to upgrade. i'm happy with the ATV2, but then again i don't use it all that much as it is. Apps would be fun, i guess, but i could see the novelty wearing off pretty fast with that. hopefully they surprise us with something wonderful.

True HD audio - IE the ability to stream at least 24bit/96khz.

1080P would be a nice bonus but my plasma only does 1080i.

Significant increase of available streaming services that couldn't (won't?) be made available on the ATV2.

Give me 1080p and the App Store. If I can get HBO and Showtime apps on it plus Air Video and Netflex, I could replace at least 2 STBs which would save me $9/month.

I love the apple tv2, I have almost fully converted all my movies/tv shows with proper metadata and all.

Not sure what I would want in the apple tv3. If it got 1080p, i may be a little mad because I would have to re-rip my bluerays to 1080 instead of 720, but I guess I would suck it up.

I would definitely upgrade if it got apps, and faster processor/more ram,

but honestly I love the apple tv2, I may just hang onto that.

I'm getting an iPad 3, so unless there is some special feature of the new iPad that will only work with an updated ATV, I'm very happy with my ATV2.

I can't really think of anything that would force me to upgrade, except maybe apps. Or a super cheap price :D If I did upgrade, the ATV 2 would just move into the bedroom.

I guess adding Siri would be nice, and it'll probably replace the remote which I can never seem to find.

You could load a selection of films onto your ipad/iphone/ipod touch, then take your ATV2 and ipad to your friend's and airplay the movies. Or just the ipad if your friend already has an ATV2.

I guess adding Siri would be nice, and it'll probably replace the remote which I can never seem to find.

But wouldn't Siri be built into the remote where the Mic is activated with a button? So if you lose the remote then goodbye Siri.

Anyway, I sold two of my AppleTV2's on Amazon Marketplace for more than I paid a year ago. So nothing will stop me from buying an ATV3.

Then I'll just tape it somewhere.

It'll be interesting if ATV3 has a huge premium on price and all of sudden people want to buy back ATV2.
