Watched the pilot of Blindspot this morning since I had a canceled appointment. Looks promising I think.

I don't watch much current TV shows since they are filled with melodramatic cheese or awful variety shows during the afternoon. Luckily, I've been deprived from alot of American reality TV shows here. The only REALITY TV show I ever watched was Bret Michael's Rock of Love back in 2007-2008. I love how floozy those women were to him. Hilarious! The Bachelor for a rock star and his groupies. It copied Flavor of Love, but I liked RoL's women more. My fav was Megan in Season 2, a chick who whored herself to Too Short after the show and Beauty And The Geek before it.

I watch alot of I Love Lucy if I am not watching a movie. I mean, I seen alot of episodes at least 30+ times since it was on almost every morning or weekends syndicated on Fox when I was a kid. In 1991, I was only 10-11 but I felt 91. I would rent anything from Charlie Chaplin, The Marx Brothers, and Laurel & Hardy. The only comedy duos/team I never liked was Abbott & Costello and Martin & Lewis (specifically Jerry Lewis). Jerry was the Jim Carrey of the 1960's. Tries too hard to be wacky. I love Dean Martin and his music though.

With Lucy, I can always watch it over and over. Lucy Ricardo is actually the most annoying character on the show. Nothing against Lucille since it was written that way and I still adore her and Viv. But I was always crack up on anything Bill Frawley says. He has that Groucho Marx/Red Foxx witty insults which I love to hear. I also enjoy the music in it just like in Gilligan's Island. Maybe that's why I enjoy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels too. A 1950's/1960's feeling. There is a class and sophistication to it like I am listening to bossa nova from Astrud Gilberto and Sergio Mendes.

As I get older, I start to repeat things I enjoyed already. Like my Stepfather. He has a ton of music, but he only listens to jazz, bossa nova, and some classical. From a pool of thousands of songs, he grabs 700-800 of them for his phone or iPhone 3Gs he uses for an iPod. You will hear any cover of "Mas Que Nada", "The Look of Love", or "The Girl From Ipanema" (his all-time fav song) almost every day inside his car. That's what music, movies, and TV is becoming to me. Background stuff looped repeatedly as I get older while doing other stuff. I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island, Three's Company, and The Travel Channel episodes are like that to me similar to jazz and bossa nova music is to my Stepdad.

Check out Everyone Loves Raymond and Modern Family, they are both funny and have won bunches of Emmys.

Penny Dreadful is fun.

Yeah, it's keeping me off guard more than usual. Some nice variations on the classic horror tropes, some really interesting characters whose backgrounds are being revealed in a nice slow burn, and the performances are fantastic.

Just another example of some of the outstanding modern TV shows that are available (especially outside of the networks).

Hand of God (Amazon Original Series 2014)- A story of a morally corrupt judge, Ron Pearlman with personal tragedies in his life is born again, sees signs from his brain-dead son, regarding the rape of his daughter-in-law, and takes action, vigilante action. Interesting and disturbing, I'll keep watching. I've enjoyed supporting actor Garret Dillahunt since his Deadwood days.

Honestly? Catching up on Survivor from this past week. I know it's complete mindless entertainment but I've enjoyed it for years.

I watched episode 1 of the new season of Homeland, on Showtime, last night. I love the series, but with the change in direction, I found myself quite bored watching it yesterday.

Oh, I saw it trying to record the other night. I guess I should watch it. Oh, wait, I got rid of Showtime. Hmm, I wonder if current episodes are on Apple TV?

My experience with Showtime is that we don't get current season episodes via iTunes, until the season after it has begun.

The exception is if you pay Showtime for their Showtme Now service through the Apple TV, which is essentially the same as adding it to your cable or satellite packages.

I did this for last season's Game of Thrones on HBO Now, paid for one month. I feel somewhat confident that Homeland has seen its best days. What do you think?

Yeah, that's my fear too. Seasons 1 through 3, more or less, kept me on the edge of my seat with each episode. Last season was still good, but the handwriting was on the wall I think. This season, 5, may be the season that jumps the shark.

Currently, I do not have Showtime as one of my DirecTV packages, but last weekend was one of those free weekends where they let me have Showtime for a few days. So based on the season opener, I'm not sure if I want to continue watching the series or not.

I forget, when does GoT get started again?

3 episodes, it did not take. :(
2 episodes for me

Just finished watching the last This is England from last night, really moving, I'm so sad its finished.

I can't imagine most on here will know what it is as its an english show, but if you want gritty (and slightly depressing) british drama at its best then I'd recommend it.
Good series, there was a film before the series, This Is England '86. Have a look at some other Shane Meadows films like 'Dead Mans Shoes'.

Watching some episodes from one of my favorite TV series, the X-Files.
Only saw minimal episodes back in the day. Started from episode 1 series 1 in March this year. Now up to series 9, should be finished by January.

We just started with Penny Dreadful, and it's pretty outstanding just a few episodes in.
Both series good, waiting for series 3.

GOT new season April 2016 if they keep it the same as 2015.

Oh, in that case, I'm dropping HBO from my DirecTV package now. Somehow I thought GoT was getting started again in October.

I used HBO Now in connection with Apple TV to subscribe for one month, and the first month was free (or was it 2 free months?) It was not intentional but when I subscribed much of the season had all ready been broadcast so I only had to subscribe for the free period, whatever that was, more likely 2 months. :) My impression is that it's easier to do this myself than coordinate with my cable company Suddenlink.

The Travel Channel: My Favorites Episodes

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
1. Hong Kong - This one got me hooked
2. Tokyo - Love the music the best here
3. Penang - Beautiful to watch at night
4. Vietnam 1 - Most James Bond-like
5. Rio - Jiu-jitsu + beauty & the beach

Bizzare Foods With Andrew Zimmern
1. Seoul - Korean food seems underrated
2. Japan - Anything there is always fun
3. Philippines - Eating worm in Palawan
4. Asia - Andrew tripped out on durian
5. Bolivia - I like the women wrestlers

I haven't seen much Samantha Brown but my fav of her from Passport To Europe is Rome. Looks good in her evening gown. Her visit to China was ok but I didn't like the makeup they put on her. I also like Ghost Adventures where Linda Vista Hospital 1 is my fav but avoid Man v Food as much as I can unless I eat at Buffalo Wings which has their episode on loop.

I find Chef Tony visiting Europe rather boring although Burgundy looked great. I like it when I see him and Andrew together. Rio was great just to see his wife do Brazilian jiu-jitsu and her opponent is BEAUTIFUL! And I like when I see Sam in a bikini somewhere in Hawaii or when she shot Tony in that Christmas episode. She was always educated to do comedy improv. I pretty much have tuned out to Bourdain ever since he moved to CNN. I miss having him being part of The Travel Channel family.

Most of my favorite episodes are in Asia because I find the culture, background, food and overall episodes more fascinating. But it is weird that I would rather visit Europe for the great history, less population, cleaner cities, and famous landmarks albeit more expensive. I didn’t like the Bourdain/Philippines one thanks to that annoying poseur named Augusto. Just thinking of the Philippine episodes and watching them eat pancit palabok, sisig, pinakbet, or banana q is getting me hungry. Yum!
