It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown (1966). Recorded last night on satellite.

I had no idea it was made in the '60's until just now.

You can't go wrong with Charlie Brown.

Well, I remember seeing the cartoons (in newspapers) but have never seen the cartoons (as in movies). It wasn't part of what we grew up with in Europe.

Actually, I had always assumed that Charlie Brown was one of those culturally specific cartoons that the US got, but was one that somehow never crossed The Pond.

Are they that seriously good? Do you recommend them?

Pawn Stars- Somewhat staged but still enjoyable (for me). :)
Ghost Hunters- Kinda boring these days, although at the end of last season someone was getting scratched repeatedly by unseen forces. :):)
American Pickers- Still watchable.

Hand of God (Amazon Original Series 2014)- A story of a morally corrupt judge, Ron Pearlman with personal tragedies in his life is born again, sees signs from his brain-dead son, regarding the rape of his daughter-in-law, and takes action, vigilante action. Interesting and disturbing, I'll keep watching. I've enjoyed supporting actor Garret Dillahunt since his Deadwood days.

This fizzeled for me. I ended up not caring, fatal for a thriller. ;)

Now I'm onto The Outer Limits (1963).

What are you watching this on? As a kid I remember being disturbed by several episodes like The Architects of Fear and The Mice, both involve aliens.

I just opened an account on Hulu and searched for it. You could also get it from iTunes. Not sure if Netflix has it or not.

I really like this show and haven't seen it for a long time, so it's like new again to me.

Right now, also on Hulu, I'm watching The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross.

Is the new Hawaii Five-Oh decent? It's on NetFlix and it keeps coming up as a recommended series on my profile.

An oldie, but an excellent TV series in its day.
That it is. :) Though it has aged in parts over the years, the storyline and acting has helped it remain strong, especially with the advent of trash (read: reality) t.v.

I remember being glued to the t.v. as a teen when it first aired. It has always stuck with me. I never get tired of watching it. Glad to finally have the series on DVD, even though it airs locally every night, along with NYPD Blue, which is also another favorite staple of mine.

Well, it was one of the first shows to feature an ensemble cast, - where everyone got story lines over the course of a season - rather than just focussing on the proverbial leads. Moreover, some of the cast weren't even conventionally good-looking - they looked ordinary, and hence, were a lot more believable. And many of them were very good actors.

In addition, I remember that the sets - and setting - depicted grotty urban realism, and sometimes bleak stories. Scripts were good, the format - a day in the life of a precinct station - was excellent. Above all, it managed to have narrative, character and world-building depth by allowing some stories to span many episodes, or an entire series, and it gave its world a wider political and social context.

For its time - and, no, I haven't seen it since the 80s, when I was an undergrad, but I thought it an excellent and intelligent series, one well worth watching.

Finished the first season of iZombie and the first two seasons of the American version of Being Human. So far, both have been pretty good.

Indian Summers- Looks like a winning mini-series, period piece on PBS Masterpiece Classic about the end times of the British Raj in India circa 1932 (filmed in Maylasia).

I discovered this was first broadcast on PBS in Feb 2015. Seven episodes in, and it's still watchable, but not mesmerizing like oh say, Downton Abbey. The character Ian is a good guy although a drunk. :)

Speaking of Downton Abbey, the final episode (apart front the Christmas Special, which will be broadcast on Christmas Day) aired last night.

Being that it's Veterans Day, that signifies the start of my annual viewing of Band of Brothers.

View attachment 599371

There is not much on US TV that has impressed me in recent - um - decades (okay, apart from ST, STNG, DS9, etc), but, I must admit that Band of Brothers did do it for me.

An excellent - and historically meticulous (and I am - as a professional historian, a little bit anal on such matters) series. One with superb production values, and one well worth watching.

Superb story telling, faithful to history, and to what actually happened. And, it is faithful, too, to both the tales of the US military (the 'citizen soldier' narrative so beloved of Stephen E. Ambrose) and to the wider historical narrative (and I am one of those who are horribly aware of, and sensitive to - and reluctant to subscribe to - those stories which take liberties with historical facts).

Anyway, enjoy your viewing: I thought that series excellent when I saw it around a decade and a half ago.
