This just popped up on my Spotify. Another garbage AI feature, unbelievable. I'm about ready to ditch Spotify completely, except I do like to listen to music on the plane, and it is sort of convenient to look up different recordings of pieces when I'm learning new music.
some websites are now "checking if I'm human" just for loading the site, when I'm already logged in, and accessing it from my usual home computer and IP address.
Unfortunately, the situation is only going to get worse as LLM and AI-training increases, both from established and startup companies, and as bots, crawlers, and scrapers are forced to broaden their activities from the most-trafficked websites to increasingly obscure websites as they search for new data.
For example, here's a recent discussion on another Mac website:
Interesting piece from Stephen Follows, a data analyst for the film industry, he has a useful newsletter I subscribe to. In it he tracks the changes that AI crawlers have brought to the web, their impact and issues which emerged.
