Only things I have from Ikea are a few of their lightweight Lamplig stainless steel trivets, which I have used for years as supports for various things. Got the idea a long time ago here on MR, actually, way back when I was using a Mac Mini, one of the square white ones. The trivet was exactly the right size (square, 7x7 inches) to elevate the thing enough to give it some air underneath, too, rather than building up heat by being set directly on the glass workstation. I then realized that this could be useful, too, for doing something similar with external HDDs when plugging them into the computer either temporarily or for longer term use. Right now I have my computer modem sitting on one, as well as the router on another one, and an external SSD will be shortly doing so as I prepare to transfer some data between it and the computer.

Y'know, I just hate it when I tell people when I'm going to be out of town SEVERAL TIMES, and then they ask if I'm available on the dates when they know I'm going to be out of town. And then I have to keep reminding them. It's starting to get annoying...

Unfortunately reading comprehension seems to have gone down the tubes, along with aural comprehension..... Everthing seems to need to be in "sound bites" or the visual text equivalent of such for people to maybe actually grasp the meaning of the message that is being conveyed either in text or audio form..... Sad, isn't it?

Very sad, agreed.

Another thought I had about this is that even though you may have told someone that you'll be out of town, unavailable on certain dates, that isn't necessarily something that they are going to remember, as they are involved with their own lives and other people as well. Unless they write it on a calendar that so-and-so will be unavailable during a specific time it is something fairly easy to slip right out of mind....

We put 10 of the classic Billy shelves together for my office. Worked a treat. Building ikea furniture is a bout as complex as putting together a Lego set. Compared to other cheap furniture brands ikea always wins on instructions and packaging.
Are you sure it wasn't some knock off brand? Billy is too easy to pronounce for a piece of IKEA furniture.😁

Those stupid automated receptionists—I just absolutely LOATHE them! It asks for information, I tell it the information, and when it "checks that everything's right," it repeats the WRONG STUFF! Even worse is when I literally shout into the phone (because I want it to hear what I'm saying), and it still says, "Sorry, I'm not sure I understand." Just can I please speak to a real person for once!!

Very sure. It's from a time where not every product had to have some touch of Northern Europe thrown in. :D

Oh, yes.

Yes, yes, yes.

A heartfelt and profound amen to this.

I've been conditioned to really anticipate (with great satisfaction) when one of my friends needs new furniture because it represents an opportunity to go to IKEA to get meatballs.
Lingonberry jam (which goes great with meatballs).....and cloudberry jam are also worth buying.

But, Kalles Kaviar has to be my favourite product of theirs.

Insect bites. About 7 or 8 are driving me crazy right now. One on my leg has swallow up something chronic.
Aaaah.

You have my complete sympathy.

With mosquitoes, I also experience that massive allergic reaction (hot, itchy and sore all at once; ugh).

Try citronella, or a citronella based product- - it is natural, and it does work at repelling the winged horrors and airborne menaces.

Personally, I am a huge fan of the UK company Al Fresco; they are brilliant, the stuff is entirely natural (I have used their moisturer) and - here I write from personal experience - it does work.

Oh, yes, I can definitely relate to this!!! A couple of times I have screamed into the phone and then barely resisted throwing it across the room as I've hit the disconnect button to hang up with the frustrating call. When I can manage to wait long enough for the stupid system to offer to send my call to a real live person, I am so, so much happier.....

Am just wondering who decided to do the first ‘Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion’. And how many times did they have to try, to get it right.

My Missus had this operation on Thursday, cervical discs 4 - 7, replaced with titanium. My goodness what an operation and now for the recovery.
Mrs. Terminator! All the best with her recovery.

I went to the pharmacy this morning. Prescribed antibiotics. They are so raised now I don’t think I could put any cream on them.

You have my full and complete sympathy; I have been there and it is really awful.

I get those horrid raised boils as an allergic reaction, as well.

Very glad that you managed to get to the pharmacy.

Best of luck with it.

Saw the pharmacist. Prescribed antibiotics. Not working yet though.
