I work a hybrid schedule (M/W/F in office; T/TH at home) and upon sitting down at my desk at home here and putting my headphones on, discovered that I left iTunes running and music playing this whole time here since Tuesday..........😂

Just lovely for me.

Dry and warm and sunny.

Actually, this is close to perfect - the range of 20-30 is, for me, the proverbial "Goldilocks" zone; I can handle up to the mid thirties, but anything higher is uncomfortable, while once we breach 40, it becomes deeply unpleasant.

Short sleeves in September; gorgeous.

Winter (and bleak short days, dark dismal skies, cold, wet and miserable weather) will be all too soon upon us, alas.
Pretty much the same here, though a bit warmer (30 right now). Our student cohort are dressed for summer and spend their break playing sports by the lake. I am thinking of doing the same for the weekend.

I’m thinking about how peculiar it is that humans and salmon are more closely related than salmon and shark.
What about the close relationship between (some) humans and sharks?

To my mind, (and in my experience), there are some individual humans who could lay claim to a common - and perhaps, unusually close - DNA ancestry with sharks.

Just awoke from a nap. Feel worse than I did before I lay down. My body doesn’t like this heat. It’s not what I was built for.
Hopefully dinner will wake me up. I think Mrs AFB is doing chicken pasta salad.
For salad read iceberg lettuce. She can’t eat much else that goes into a salad.

Well, iceberg lettuce is good in warm weather if it's fresh.

yes, and I'm pretty sure that a few clients I've had in the past were more closely related to sharks than was desirable

Indeed. But I prefer my salads to have a few more ingredients. Rocket, onion, pepper etc. to be fair it usually comes with cucumber. She can deal with the side effects of eating a small amount of that.
Tomato?

Yesterday, I prepared a fruit salad with tinned apricots (fresh are now well out of season), but with fresh peaches, nectarines, mango, and passion fruit.

The colours were warm and wonderful, and the taste sublime.

May I ask what “Rocket” is?
Rocket is short for "rocket (salad) leaves".

This is a salad green, - and one that is pretty hardy, and is relatively easily obtained, as it has a long growing season - with a sharp, "hot" (as in somewhat spicy), almost a mustard heat - taste; thus, it confers a nice flavour - and some heat - to salads, as some salad greens are pretty tasteless.

However, it is so strong - with the 'mustard heat' - that it is rarely consumed, or eaten, on its own; therefore, usually it will be served with mixed greens - a variety of different salad greens - along with butterhead lettuce, lamb's lettuce, romaine lettuce, etc - or, with other ingredients, such as tomatoes and mozzarella cheese in an Italian salad.

It is astonishing how we think we're special as humans and yet in reality we are remarkably unexceptional and we're made up of the most common elements in the universe.

To think that sharks are our distant cousins is an interesting thought. I want to read up more about that.

Hmmm.

It seems appropriate to point out that I actually meant this metaphorically rather than literally.

How do you mean? It appears to be a scientific fact unless google is deceiving me. I did get a sense however that you were pointing at some unruly individuals that you've stumbled upon.

I haven’t met any sharks closeup, but maybe some people of that manner.
But I swim symbolically away from them as they never even existed anywhere close to me, ever, as any dolphin would. Guess I picked up a few things from the brilliant dolphins.
I was swimming closely with dolphins at a very early age, and they are an incredibly joyful and even spiritual experience. From my understanding they are clearly a very intelligent species, their presence most definitely make lasting impact.

1-0 lions won!!
Huge victory
