What you talking about? AW double tap sounds great. But I’ll admit it does remind me of what a hitman does!

My favourite bit was seeing one of the products we make in the background. View attachment 2259995
Yes, I can imagine. I worked repairing medical devices and get excited when I see something like what I worked on in TV shows or movies.

Oh, cool! Which of the items in the background?? I'm guessing either the one at the far left or the one at the far right behind Misha.... ???

Not going to spoil anything for those who haven't watched the video of the streamed event yet, but I kind of got a kick out of one segment of the presentation..... For me it was funny and rather whimsical, which caught my attention, and a really interesting way to present some what I suspect that for many viewers would have otherwise been rather boring material. It was definitely unexpected and kind of a different, cool approach.

Now the part where they showed all the examples of video games that can be played on an iPhone -- well, that was something in which I was not interested at all and my attention definitely wandered at that point. Nonetheless I hung in there for the various important product reveals along the way, etc. Apple is definitely trying to appeal to a huge and largely unseen audience of viewers with vastly different needs and desires while at the same time also wanting to make particular points either about their products themselves or their approach to designing and manufacturing those products.

The colour chart on the left. But we also supply the light viewing booths it’s sitting in.
I know exactly the bit in the video you are talking about!

Got a chance to play with an amazing vibraphone player this afternoon! We just went into a practice room and played through standards, including some that he was struggling with, so I helped him out a little, it was fun!! Dunno how he found out about me (he's a bit older), but he just came up to me as I was walking through the conservatory lounge and asked if we could play, so we did that!

For me it was:
“1968-The year the worms came out of can. Where both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were assassinated by a crazy fanatic with a gun”

Not quite sure where I heard that phrase put it has stuck with me all these years.

Today was the first day since early June that I felt the need of a pullover during the day (okay, I have occasionally worn a jacket in the evening) over a polo-shirt/t-shirt. I've been in short sleeves all summer (even though it was wet, it wasn't cold).

Always, but always, there is a noticeable decrease in temperature somehwere in mid September, and today was the first day that I noticed it, the first day that I thought (in the evening), hmmm, I wouldn't mind a bit of heat.

The days of wearing short sleeves (during the day) are drawing to a close.

@Scepticalscribe we were just talking about this!! I just went to a recital with just piano and bass, it was a crazy set! Different from anything I've ever heard before—it was all standards, but they did each one completely differently with insane reharmonizations. Piano player went absolutely nuts during one of the numbers. Both are music (jazz) faculty here.

It was 43 degrees this morning, and it felt like even my sweatshirt wasn't enough, because I'm so used to warm temperatures. And then here are all these other guys wearing shorts and short sleeves, I'm not kidding... I don't know how they do it!

I almost can't wait to see how cold it gets in the winter...

I have an enormous tolerance for heat and warmth (my brother once joked that my presence was marked in one of his dreams by steam escaping from underneath the bathroom door - as happened in reality - for I like piping hot showers) and could not conceive of shorts and short sleeves in anything much under 18-20C.

43F clocks in at just over 6C......Brrrr. That is not just a pullover, but pullover, perhaps a jacket, and certainly some sort of an outer coat.

Yes, I imagine that it will get an awful lot colder in the winter. Here, it is 18C (64F) indoors, and 11C (52F) outdoors; both too cold - to my mind - for short sleeves, let alone shorts.

Stay warm, but, above all, enjoy yourself.

That sounds absolutely brilliant.

One of the things I love about Baroque music (and it took me ages to realise that this really appeals to me) is that amazing bass line, which also serves as rhythm. (Listen to the glorious Laetatus Sum, by Monteverdi, for an idea of what I mean, or the fantastic Fandango by Antonio Soler - and this one is played on a harpsichord, hence keyboards - where the bass line is beyond superb).

When I met Mrs AFB I was living up North. It’s a fair bit cooler there. Let’s just say we were never going to stay there.
In fact I think she only visited once or twice. I did all the travelling (not that I minded!).

Agreed.

I worked there (teaching) for a year or so - and completely agree.

A fair bit cooler describes it well; I must say that I rather liked the people, but was not - at all - enamoured of the climate; I missed the warmth, that is, physical heat of the warming rays of the sun.

I am enjoying a warm, 17C for mid September, weather here 😀
The cold will come soon enough and stay long enough anyway.
I have noticed a much shorter spring and autumn, but longer summer and winter, here recently.
If the prolonged forecast is right, this ~temperature seems to stay Sept. out. 👍🏼

The yearly checkup at my dentist was good too 😁

I'm in Southern California, so while we will get cool, especially by the ocean, we will never really get cold. You either love that or hate it.

I'll never forget when friends from Europe came to visit me in late December and it was 75 degrees and sunny and most areas were green. They had momentarily forgotten what month they were in.

Thing is they all go out drinking in t-shirts in the winter. I’d be there freezing in my jumper, coat and gloves!

Now, I have felt a distinctive drop in temperature today and yesterday, and mentally, I am composing a memo to self that states: "No heating on in the house until October, and no electric blanket in my bed until October".

This is because, I vividly remember when my parents used to head off on their holidays - usually from around 7th September until 21st or so of September, - and, while the first week would be okay, the dying embers of some sort of Indian summer, but abruptly, one would belatedly realise that the house needed a little bit of heat during the second week.

The heating always went on for a few hours during the second week of September.

Our heating won’t be on for a good while yet. Not given what the gas costs us!

Having a break before I start my evening shift. Hopefully it won’t be as long as yesterday’s.
