In a coffee shop.
Enjoy. A bit late to chill for this evening though.
Actually, no.

Candidly, they are more than sufficiently cool in the washroom, which is where the beer and wine both currently live, along with my ample supplies of sparkling mineral water.

Now, in summer, I will grant you that white wine, and lager style beers can spend a little time in the fridge before they are opened; that doesn't apply at the moment.

In fact, now, however, they are more than cool - bordering on cold - when fetched.
Here glad it’s Friday. I’m off Monday. Well every Monday for the rest of the year.
Enjoy your Mondays for the rest of the year.

Dry here. But still wet underfoot and cold.
Wet underfoot, ugh; one of the worst things at this time of year, with the need to watch your footing to ensure that you don't slip and slide on disintegrating leaves.
But at least the sun came out for the lunchtime walk with Mrs AFB.
Ah, good.

Tomorrow, I am to receive my Covid and flu jabs, and hope to head - briefly - into the farmers' market for a few bits and pieces (not least, bread in the French bakery, some cream, perhaps some cheese, a few chicken thighs...), and hope it is dry by then.

Round here you have to be more concerned about what the sheep and horses left behind than wet leaves!

Fresh French bread. Another thing I miss. Reminds me of Summer holidays in the South of France as a kid.

I've been a fervent fan of the Naruto series since the beginning. Today the new videogame was released, and I've realized I have no interest in buying it, despite having coveted a new Naruto game for quite some time. I'm still following the newer manga, but I left the anime behind and, apparently, the videogames too, I believe videogames in general.

It's a weird feeling when you realize you've outgrown a passion that you had for such a long time.

Ah, yes, some of the joys of rural living.

No thanks, not for me.

Well, fresh French bread beckons tomorrow; last Saturday, when collecting my bread, I asked them to put some aside for me tomorrow, and they even showed me that they had written it in their diary.

Good news: I found my Kindle.

Bad news: wife was involved in a car accident. She’s fine and so is everyone else but our car will need a few $x,xxx for repairs.
Cars can be replaced or repaired. At least your wife (and hopefully everyone else) is fine.
A colleague hit a deer a few weeks back. The bill came to £18,000 for the repair. Ouch.

Very good news that your wife is fine, (and I hope that everyone else is, too) and I'm sorry to learn that she was in an accident.

In the Philippines the Christmas decorations go up in September in the shopping malls. I still stick to a rule that our home decorations do not come out until 1st December.

In my defence the three daughters in the Philippines are 13, 9 and 2 so Christmas is quite magical. Not religious just basic children's magic. I don't see anything wrong with it. Christmas, New Year, Easter or any of the other religious faith holidays or celebrations. Do what makes you and your family feel good. Enjoy.

Or don't!

Lost our daughter at Christmas when she was 14. Never celebrated it since. Never will. Roll on January.

My cousin died prematurely five years ago, my Aunt never recovered. I visit her every Sunday without fail for coffee and a cake and we chat for a couple of hours. The subject always comes up and I try to deflect it with light hearted banter but when I look in her eyes it is always there 🥲

We should NEVER outlive our children.

On a lighter note, well not really. Mum came down with Covid last week, she has passed it to me of course, yesterday her 20 year old cat died (not from Covid haha) and today Mum has diarrhoea from taking a cough medicine.

The joys of visiting the UK! Part of the reason I am looking forward to being home for Christmas!

Hope she is better soon. I really need to sort out my booster.
