Sigh while I miss some posters like the aforementioned @Shrink there are others I have just put on my mental ignore list...rather some get put in my "faepalm" list and others in my "eyeroll at holier than thou poster" list.

So here is one image I mentioned wanting to post (I have the day off) yesterday, @arkitect will know what I mean.

Pretty sure god told me she isn't a white dude with a grey beard but no matter.

Another I will mentally post whenever I feel the need to respond to a pretentious post with no risk of suspension or banning.

Anyhow, in other news my allergies (hazelnut trees) have started already - still winter. Also, our students return from excursion next week and it will be a very busy time with courses, visits and presentations at international organisations etc. Almost quarter to 11 time for a coffee break.

And both yesterday and today have been days when the people I wished to get in touch with proved surprisingly elusive and difficult to track down.
I can only imagine how emotionally taxing it could also be.
Hope it is wrapped up soon.

Haven't been feeling well since December. Three sets of blood tests, 3 doctors visits, an MRI, and a stress test so far and everything has been negative. Another appointment next week.

I really need to know a reason for why I don't feel well and why this is dragging on.
Good luck! These "mystery" ailments are the worst.
Took a friend of mine more than 2 years to be diagnosed with Coeliacs — admittedly that was early 2000s but still…

Indeed I know whereof you speak.
Threads like those can easily drive me to drink. :)

In theory, on paper, - objectively - some of it is not so challenging, but, as you so rightly suggest, the fact that it is emotionally taxing - or, that there are emotions involved - renders it all the more exhausting.

A strange dream where I was in the US with my parents trying to find a bar showing a boxing match.

Very strange as my parents haven’t been together in 30 years, I haven’t watched boxing for probably longer.

I didn’t even have any cheese?

And were you ever in the US wth them in real life?

I'm remembering my mother laughing - she had a terrific sense of humour (even when her condition increasingly claimed her, she loved to laugh), and a wonderful smile.

Funnily enough no. I’ve been three times (the first time whilst I turned 15), but never with my parents.

Well, then, that is an interesting dream, being someplace you were never with them in real life, especially if - as I seem to recall - you also actually met Mrs AFB in the US.
Indeed I did! Not on that trip though. That was to Wisconsin, Chicago and Florida.
The trip I met my wife on was to the Olympics in Atlanta.
Then last year (or was it the year before?) I went to LA for work.

Of the three trips one was more memorable and rewarding than the other two!

Yes, that I can well imagine.

Never been to the US myself, but there are some places I wouldn't mind seeing.

Here, the carer has been and gone; I may see her briefly on Sunday.

Could the career get a car? But I’m guessing even if she drove, it might be beyond her means.

I'm not sure how long this position will actually last - meaning, I'm not sure how long the carer will be able to cope with the lack of transport and remoteness; she is used to being in or near a city, and having friends, Asian restaurants, pubs, karaoke, and stuff such as that to hand.

For now, I would imagine that a car would be beyond her means, - indeed, I'm not entirely sure that she is able to drive.

We shall see how long this post lasts; my brothers suspect that it may not last terribly long, but - at least, the family are lovely and welcoming, which is a big plus.

Agreed. But some way to see her friends (including you!) would be nice.

How difficult it is to find cheap web-hosting these days. My latest related purchase was $0.99 for the first month, and then $12.99 every month after. I'm switching hosting before that first month ends.

How odd gendered insults are and how amusing it is when someone is more insulted by being misgendered than by the actual insult (e.g. "I'm not a bitch, I'm a bastard!")

A brilliant idea for an alarm clock that wirelessly connects to a small servo-powered tweezer. You clip it on to an unwanted eyebrow hair before bed and wake to the terrible but invigorating pain of beautification!

Sort of the opposite of this XKCD comic; I often italicize something for emphasis and then reread it and realize italicizing an adjacent word improves flow. By italicizing that second word, I don't select the whitespace between them and have a blank unitalicized space (there's one between "first" and "month" of the first sentence ).
