In a coffee shop.
Christmastime, mid 50s in Buffalo NY. Not a drop of snow.
I must say that I rather like @Herdfan's response, and also note the reply from @rm5, who does appear to have some knowledge of the subject matter under discussion.

In any case, as I am not from the US, I can seek refuge in the sanctuary of not knowing any of this stuff.

However, having said that, @Rafterman, are you pleased (or not) with the absence of (expected) snow in expected quantities?

There have been years when Buffalo, NY and immediately surrounding area plus points somewhat beyond (all usually included within the so-called "Snow Belt") have really been blasted with snow early-on and continuing through the winter.... So, yes, it is really rather odd that this year so far they have not had the usual snow prior to, not to mention actually around Christmas. Wow!

Pleased. Late October to April is cold and crappy. Six months of the year, we freeze our butts off. Sort of like Scotland, but with more snow.

It’s been unusually warm for December here too. I think we’ve had 1-2 mild frosts. Temperatures have barely dropped to single digits.
Global warming is definitely on my mind

Here I’m awake 30 minutes before my alarm. In the office today. At least it will be quiet. Like very quiet. I have some preparation to do for a meeting, then some project work to do.

A quiet (and preferably, empty) office is - well, if not close to heaven - is, at the very least, somewhat approaching my ideal situation whenever I have had to do any preparation, and/or thinking, planning and serious report writing. Solitude and silence work very well in such circumstances.

The appalling weather outside today. High winds, heavy rain and generally awful for a fourth day in a row. I have to go out later and pick up an air fryer I bought and get some bits from the supermarket and can’t think of anything worse.

The drive to work was particularly unpleasant. Not as bad as Mrs AFB one where her drivers side wiper decided against wiping.

Appalling.

When I put out the bins last night (as instructed by text), I was worried about the winds, less so the lashing rain.

Anyway, the bins have been emptied, and all have been returned to their respective niches.

I'm postponing any such trips until the weather eases; I need to get a diary (paper) for the coming year, but shall attend to that later in the week.

I can well imagine.

It was awful this morning.

Ouch.

Hope she can have it repaired easily.

I’ll look at it at the weekend and see what’s what.

No, not really.

Just a few, very few, brief, fleeting glimpses of light.

Those ominous threatening charcoal coloured clouds, - the sort that are full of frozen water - instead appeared. And it just got darker and darker.
To be fair it’s been a very mild December.

Journey home was better in terms of rain. However slow M5 due to a load of clothes on the motorway. A couple of miles later and a car pulled over with a policeman helping to secure (a presumably) now empty roof box.
Anyway I’m home and won’t be venturing out in the car until whatever day I’m in the office next week.

This is true, and I am not one bit sorry.

I loathe the cold.

Yes, I also cannot abide the wet and not just the bleak darkness, but the abysmally poor quality of light.

Good that you arrived back safely.

Good; that means the best part of a week, doesn't it?

Earliest I’ll be in is Tuesday. But I’ll probably defer the trip until Wednesday or Thursday.

Heavy rain and thunder and lightening here. Don't think I've ever seen weather like this in December before?
