Fair enough! It does make traveling faster, that is true. Don't think I could feasibly go to college out-of-state if airplanes didn't exist.

Sure it would be feasible, but a little different. I have ancestors who lived in Chicago and went to colleges on the east and west coasts. They went by train, which did take a little longer than today's airline travel, but it was considered routine in those days.

True! I haven't ridden a train in god knows how long. The 4-day road trip is too much to do multiple times a year though. My family and I did it once so far.

I'm quite fond of train travel. The last trip I took was to go from Los Angeles to Monterey (well, nearby anyway) for a nephew's wedding. I've taken the train to Santa Barbara quite a number of times but I'd never been further north on the train and I was quite unprepared for how astonishingly wild and beautiful the unoccupied California coast is for a number of hours shortly after leaving SB.

I got a chuckle out of the skipper of the USS John McCain being relieved of duty for posting an embarrassing photo onto social media. I assume he was set up for a practical joke that went too far. But then maybe it wasn’t a joke.
There's a couple retired Navy 0-6's on my barbeque forum, who both feel the 'scope incident was just "the final straw"...

Or maybe he was just less lucky than the Commander of this ship:

(that gun puts the Gatling on the USAF's Warthog to shame, just sayin')

Your trains and our trains are not the same. ;)
This is actually true. Unfortunately, the U.S. rail system is VERY bad (and just public transportation in general, aside from planes). AFAIK there's no high-speed rail in between cities except for MAYBE in the northeast, or somewhere in California (but I don't live in either place so idk). And Amtrak was awful the one time I rode it.

FineWoven cases might be discontinued which is alarming because it may cause a shift back to using leather. So that got me thinking that we really should consider discontinuing cows. Of course it will take some adjustment but it seems worth it in the end. If you run into anyone hungry, just direct them to buy a plastic apple at Hobby Lobby for $12.

But what about milk? I’ll keep the cows thanks. Otherwise what would I drink and eat for breakfast?

In a coffee shop.

What is wrong with leather?

Briefcases, bags, phone cases, jackets.....leather is wonderful.

And natural.

You can keep plastic.

No.

I beg to differ.

Likewise.

Well said.

Made the switch to Android. Let's see how long it takes me to regret this 😔
I have a friend who did that. He switched because he found too many bugs in iOS. Turns out that Android was far buggier, so he switched back. I honestly feel bad for him, because he bought like a $300 Android phone, then he also bought a Pixel Watch (probably another $200-300). I think he plans to sell both devices though to get some money back.

EDIT: He also used LineageOS, which I think was part of his problem.

He switched *TO* Android because of too many bugs in iOS? That's like switching to Yugo because your Kia is unreliable. 🤔

I think Kia’s are very reliable. My wife’s 2012 Kia has only had tyres and oil changes and one 12 volt battery in the last 10 years. Never had any issues.

Oh, I know; I actually don't disagree. Was thinking more about the recent issues they've had with being hacked and the like. My focus was more on the regressive nature of going from Kia to Yugo. I could have picked any manufacturer, to be honest; was just the first one that popped into my mind. :)

They have some strong point vs iOS. And some are so stupid simple that I can't believe iOS has not adopted them.

Examples are 2 button presses to close all apps, arrange you screens exactly how you want them. If I want 1 app in the middle of each screen I can do that and side loading apps (something iOS will probably NEVER allow).

I think we are around a similar age and as such, we know how much better cars are today. A car at the bottom of the list today would probably be at the top circa 1990. Maybe even 2000.

When I started driving cars (well the ones we could afford) were awful! My first car was an absolute dog. But I learnt a lot about how cars work. These days I have no clue what goes on under my bonnet. Mostly because it’s just a frunk on my car!
