They have some strong point vs iOS. And some are so stupid simple that I can't believe iOS has not adopted them.

Examples are 2 button presses to close all apps, arrange you screens exactly how you want them. If I want 1 app in the middle of each screen I can do that and side loading apps (something iOS will probably NEVER allow).
I’m sure it has it’s benefits, but I’m quite happy where I am.

Got a mystery gig tomorrow--guy hasn't told me yet what time it's at, what gear I need to bring, or what genre it is. I just know where. He's VERY slow responding to texts, so I might not know till right before. Wish me luck!!

The very best of luck, and do remember to enjoy yourself.

Here's an interesting quote from a Macworld article:

As expected, in iOS 28 Apple will include some major new AI features, dubbed Apple Intelligence, although these features will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max and newer iPhones.

Search the page for the phrase "new features coming" and you'll see it yourself.

I'm impressed that they know about iOS 28 a decade before Apple announces it! ;)

Well, as we know, AI is powered by Quantum Tunneling, so yes, it can read articles published 10 years hence...

I likely won't upgrade to the iPhone 16 just yet, but I do need to relatively soon, because my 11 Pro will become ineligible for trade-in next year. My 11 Pro works so well that I've never even considered upgrading, but I just found out it'll lose all trade-in value next year. So I do need to sometime soon.

What sucks is that I don't think I can get a 16 Pro, due to the trade-in policy (because T-Mobile trade-in is absolute trash). I'll be stuck with a regular 16. The only reason I have a "pro" iPhone right now is because I bought it refurbished in 2021 carrier-unlocked.

Doesn’t really suck all that much when you think about many other things going on in the world right now though.

I am beyond pissed with Avid... maybe I've already explained this, but why not again. I bought a PERPETUAL LICENSE of Sibelius (a scorewriter) in 2020. I was NEVER told that my "support plan" expiring would make it impossible to use the software. Now, when I launch it, since my support plan has expired, they're making me pay $100 to reactivate it. But I thought this was a perpetual license, no? WELL CLEARLY IT ISN'T! Also, it's been four years... how does that align with the one year they state?

Where on this page does it mention that when the plan expires, you can't use the software? It doesn't. So Avid is literally hiding a $100 fee you have to pay every few years, even though you bought a prepaid license.

WHAT?!!!

This is one of the things that is truly maddening about our software models currently.

If you don’t like seeing her, then don’t. Not seen or spoken to mine in about 10 years.
We were never close. No rules that say you have to see people just because you share DNA.
My older sister and I have had an armistice for nearly 50 years now. It started the moment both she and I realised that I physically outmatched her. Haven't had a fight since.

I’ve not had a fight with mine either. Just after I moved out of the family home as a teenager I never had anything to do with her. Maybe saw her half a dozen times over the next decade. But never by my arrangement.

Sometimes families are those you make not those you are born with.

The weekend is on my mind. Sadly I have to get through Friday first. At least I’m WFH tomorrow.
Off next week though. Hoping to have my annual meet up with my Dad. But after this mornings call I’m not especially hopeful it will happen. Oh well. Can only try.

I also did a lot of traveling! Though finally made it. Ended the day with a visit to Texas Roadhouse, which I had never been to. Have to say the food was decent enough, but my god the place was LOUD!! Too much for me—I covered my ears most of the time. I move into my dorm tomorrow bright and early!

A day of much travelling, many meetings, some report writing, some coffee but neither wine nor beer.

Nevertheless, not bad at all.
Another deployment? I hope you might find a glass or two of something later.

Even on my recent trip I drank very little. I’m down to a handful of alcoholic drinks a year now. I’m off to Paris next month (work) so that will most likely be my next and possibly last beer of the year.

The way the weather has changed makes me more likely crave a hot chocolate in the evenings at the moment. Already got a couple of light blankets out. It won’t be long until the electric blanket gets put back on the bed at this rate.
