Have you found the excitement of the iPhone 16 has worn off?
Honestly, yeah. I mean, it was a massive upgrade from my previous phone which was much-needed, but I also don't find myself using any of the new features. I honestly really miss my 11 Pro. Everything just worked on it, I had no bugs. I just find that the 16 Pro has almost too much stuff. I've never used the Camera Control button, never used the Action Button, none of that.

I will say though, stereo audio recording in Voice Memos is REALLY nice. I don't know if that's a new iOS 18 feature for all devices, or an iPhone 16-exclusive feature (does anyone know?) - I had iOS 17 on my previous phone and never used 18 till I got the 16 Pro. That's really great, because I can place the phone in the middle of the piano, for instance (if that's what I'm recording), and get a very wide true-to-life sound. Or place it directly in front of me if I'm talking, which also sounds cool. So that's nice, but I don't really see myself using any of the other features.

Developed an absolutely awful migraine this afternoon. Gonna have to bail on rehearsals tonight, I am in terrible shape. Can hardly look at my phone or computer.

I believe the stereo audio recording is an iPhone 16 Pro exclusive

Yikes. I had them periodically as a kid but rarely now. Thankfully mine would only last 24 hours. Hope you feel better fast or have someone available to take you into ER/Urgent Care for a shot.

Drink lots of water and have lots of tylenol and advil (if you have any on you). Feel better soon :)

Unfortunately, Tylenol and Advil don’t do much. Neither does water. Makes it worse, in fact. Took two Advil earlier which did nothing. Two hours ago, I was seconds away from calling friends asking to take me to urgent care. But decided to ride it out which seems to be working.

Starting to feel better though. At this rate, I’ll definitely be all the way better tomorrow. Just been resting mainly.

Better enough to listen to music thankfully, so I’ve put on Bach’s Missa Brevis (currently on the second one). Still quite nauseous though unfortunately.

First migraine I’ve had in years, very strange. Went to Small Group Arranging class early in the afternoon feeling fine. Soon as I got back up to my room it all came crashing down at once. Thankfully friends gave me notes from both rehearsals I missed, so I should know what to do on Thursday.

Oh man, I'm so sorry that tylenol and advil don't help, I would be lost without those. Rest is always good though! Coupled with Bach, you're doing everything right.

Commiserations.

As someone who used to suffer from migraines - in general, I had one really brutal one every twelve to fifteen months which invariably lasted three days - might I suggest that you give some thought to possible triggers?

Anyway, I discovered - over time - that my potential triggers included a certain type of stress, lack of sleep, imminent deadlines for grading & returning essays or term papers, the PMT part of the menstrual cycle, and impacted wisdom teeth developing an infection; generally, several of these had to occur simultaneously for a migraine to manifest, but, when one did - once it had started - nothing could alleviate it.

The removal of my impacted wisdom teeth (which was a full operation) greatly improved how prone I was to migraines.

Dark rooms, (I tended to wear shades - my prescription sunglasses - because light hurt my eyes and added to my headache, especially harsh overhead lights) savoury food, - of the mostly liquid variety (such as clear chicken soup, the so-called "Jewish penicillin") nothing solid, nothing sweet, plenty of liquids, plus industrial strength (the kind that require a prescription) pain-killers, all helped.

Yeah, ultimately, I am totally not sure what caused it. I've been eating the same as always - healthy balance of meat and vegetables, and I carry two full 40 oz ThermoFlasks around (which I often refill several times a day), so plenty of water. And I got my wisdom teeth out last year.

At this rate, I'm just extremely hungry, because I didn't eat at all yesterday (due to the migraine), so I haven't had food since Monday night. So hopefully lunch at the dining hall today is filling.

Well this is crazy, I just ran into one of my old high school classmates! Apparently, he's going to school just an hour south of me. Crazy we ended up in the same area doing two completely different things (he's playing baseball, I'm studying music and another field I haven't chosen yet). Said he was just exploring the area, and wanted to see the Improvisation Group concert (which sadly I'm not able to go to). Anyway, that was a nice coincidence! And really nice to see him!

Never suffered from migraines. Maybe when I had Covid for a day or two.
I’ve been lucky with sickness for most of my life. Not missed more than a few days work in my working life. None in the last 10-12 years.

On my mind is my journey home. It was dark and felt very wintery all of a sudden.

I had a somewhat similar thing happen when I started college. 9th grade had been the last time I'd seen either of the two people who also started at my college in my freshman year, and one of them was in my design studio.

Yesterday was the first time I've ever had to miss a rehearsal here. Haven't been that sick in quite awhile.

It's 80 degrees outside (at the end of October, in northern Wisconsin???), with 35 mile per hour wind gusts. Quite awful.
