My personal preference has always been dark chocolate - even as a child, I detested milk chocolate (in common with my father), and I always loathed cadbury's Milk Chocolate.
Now, their dark chocolate was always very good ("very good" that is, for chocolate from a major manufacturer).
However, as both you and as
@scubachap have pointed out, - and I am in agreement with you - the quality has deteriorated since the (most unfortunate and deeply regretted) takeover.
Not much of a chocolate fan myself, but I do like some dark chocolate in winter - November to February - on a miserable, dark, dreary afternoon, it can bring a little light into one's life.
Hershey, no thank you,
When I was a kid, we also had not just Cadbury's, but Terry's of York (they produced some excellent chocolate, and their dark chocolates were very good indeed), Fry's (they made terrific dark chocolate), and Rowntree; actually, a surprising number of the historical chocolate makers were Quakers, and had a history of treating their employees - by the standards of the time - ethically and very well.
Agreed.
I shop there for some products and concur completely re quality - and reliability.
Agreed.
Okay: No argument. I will readily concede that both Belgium and Switzerland are in a different league entirely as far as the production - and quality - of chocolate is concerned to anywhere else in the rest of the known world.
Bliss.
Sounds like my kind of treat; do enjoy.
