No, we don't!! That's a cool idea though!
In the past six months, I've seen so much of Hatch Valley Green Chiles from the chiles themselves to salsa to meat sticks with green chiles. I twice traveled two hours to Gallup, NM to eat their green chiles omelet at Plaza Cafe, but the second time I was late and they stopped serving breakfast.

Got another 350 or so CDs to rip (did 200 of mine over the summer). Only have one optical drive to work with this time though. Going through about 10 an hour though.

Then I’ve got all my/my family’s vinyls to digitize. It’s tedious but a lot of fun!!

Believe it or not, I’ve actually never been to Gallup. Though to be honest idk what there really is to do there.

That isn't surprising. Other than Route 66 (I-40) and the Plaza Cafe, I might not have gone there. I actually considered living in New Mexico at one point, and I figured Gallup would be cheap enough. Albuquerque is somewhat expensive, as is Las Cruces. Would you believe that I was in Tucumcari when one side of the main road had a filling station and the other side had a restaurant?

That sounds like many hamlets in Arizona, as well. Visited many as a child when the family had weekend trips in our Land Rover Series LWB IIA.

I believe it.

The U.S.A. has grown so much.

I remember when Gatlinburg, Tennessee was two tables and a campground. We stayed in the campground overnight, while visiting the Smoky Mountains. My dad borrowed someone's camper to put in the bed of his pickup truck. We didn't have money for fancy hotels or even cheap motels at that time.

I think I went to the single worst rehearsal I have ever been to today. And believe me, I've attended hundreds of rehearsals in my (so far, short) lifetime. This one was just particularly awful (and extremely uncomfortable, see bottom).

Not-great-musicianship part:
Bandleader was completely unprepared--had no idea what keys the songs were in. Had no idea the order of the set list. Sometimes didn't even know the songs. Had no idea what a measure of 12/8 sounded like, so couldn't properly count off the slow blues tunes. Other bandmates got very annoyed, especially by the second hour (see below about rehearsal length)--but I'm not that type so I just went with it.

Then she went and took HALF AN HOUR to print sheet music that she didn't send beforehand, then said that all of it was wrong. Literally printed out 20 pages and said "never mind, just use the original one." Issue is, she sent me (and presumably the other people in the band) at least 5 different versions of each song in the first place so none of us knew which one to play. When asked, she said, "the one that goes [sings melody completely out of key and not helpful at all]." Not to mention, she initially said 1:00-2:00 - just an hour. It ended up going until 5:00, at which point I just politely said I needed to go and packed up--I mean, I wasn't lying cause I actually did need to go to something else. Then I was away from my computer/phone for a few hours tonight, went back just now, and 22 unread text messages from her.

Personal remarks/making me uncomfortable:
Not to mention, she literally treats me like she's my parent, I am not kidding, and made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. She also made some quite rude comments about how I talk. And mentioned "how healthy I look," which I understand probably was meant as a nice thing, but (and she doesn't know this, nor should she) that couldn't be further from the truth. This year has been absolutely awful health wise, both physically and mentally. That's so random to say--wonder what about me made her think that, let alone say it aloud with others in the room. She said it several times.

Like why bring that up, let alone in front of other people I've just met and don't really know? Isn't it also just really weird to say to someone, "you look so healthy!" over and over again, but then at the same time make fun of how they talk? Like wtf? I am literally not her child, and it's curious to me why she thinks that. Plus, a loving, caring parent would see their child as they are and not insult them! Oh no, but the irony gets worse. I learned she works as an occupational therapist! Understandably, I'm now afraid to talk to her. She didn't do this to anyone else, so why single me out? That's the most uncomfortable I have been in a LONG, LONG time.

Hope I don't come across as being a baby about that--I've gotten over it emotionally. At this point, I'm just more like... WHAT... WAS... THAT?!

I'll do the gig and it'll be fine, but after that, I'm cutting ties. This is absolutely insane. I have to teach all day tomorrow (which is great and lots of fun), but I just hope I'm not stuck thinking about all this (especially that last part) all day.

Wow sorry to hear that, sounds worse than the cold I am fighting currently. I mean it sucks but I will be fine by the time our students start their final presentations on Wednesday. Back to the band rehearsal, I am not surprised - not everyone is competent at their job (sorry to say).

Since I'm not working currently, I wasn't in attendance to see the Black Friday shoppers for the first time since 2017.

I usually love the shopping season. The holidays, without family, are not so glorious.

Last year, when I was working at Dollar Tree--most things are $1.25--a woman asked me if certain plates were 50% off. I told her "no, they aren't." rather plainly and she replied "Well, you don't have to be rude about it." and I wasn't. I almost was, and would have told her: "ma'am, this isn't Bloomingdales." She continued to be disagreeable the rest of her transaction through the end of her friend's transaction.

It's good to have a break from people in real life.

In my dreams last night, I was working in an electronics store, though. Every week, I'm working in one or two stores and they repeat most weeks. Maybe, those dreams are therapeutic.

Someone wrote to me about a video project a week ago, but it went to my junk folder! I just happened to check my junk folder just now for a verification code, and there it was. Gosh, I feel so bad now! I'll write them back right now.

So I've heard. Never been to one, so no first-hand experience. I don't eat fast food in general though.
They were between fast food and a restaurant. I didn't care for their coffee as much as they would have liked but their sandwiches were worth the visit, 2014 or earlier.

People from the UK, please tell me how you rate Marks & Spencer chocolates. They've been appearing locally at Target for a few years and I have resisted trying them, due to the price.

I'm not much of a sweets person normally, but on occasion, I've bought Ghiardelli or See's Candies chocolates.

This is really interesting. I don't listen to much pop music, nor have I ever been aware that "caught in the middle" has been sung with the same rhythm in hundreds of different songs.

Aw, that sucks--hope you get better!

And yes, that's something I've learned over the years... working with really good, competent people is unfortunately a luxury many people do not get, even the best, most experienced people in a field. Sadly, "choosing the good people and ditching the bad ones" only goes so far.

Don’t eat chocolate very often. But from memory not that much. I prefer Cadbury chocolate given the choice.

But I think I’ve maybe had chocolate once or twice this year.

I've known far too many people who are unhappy in large part because of a bad diet (of fast food and pre-cooked stuff). Of course other factors are at play, but I can guarantee you that if they stopped that and cooked healthy meals from scratch, a lot of their problems would be solved.

I am required to be enrolled in the meal plan (which essentially means that not eating in the dining hall is a massive waste of money), but I do my best there. The food is actually quite good, and naturally-sourced. However, there is a distinction between eating at the university dining hall with naturally-sourced ingredients every day and eating at McDonald's every day. I can confidently say that eating in the dining hall twice a day has not affected my mental or physical health whatsoever.

Only time I will ever eat fast food is if I am invited out to lunch or dinner and that's where we go.
