The Appleton International Airport in Wisconsin, and the Dallas-Fort Worth airport in Dallas, Texas, a major city in the southwest. It used to be I would have to make a connection in between these places, but that is no longer the case.

Dallas, Texas and Greenville, Wisconsin.

EDIT: He beat me to it!
Thanks; much appreciated.

Guess there's some sort of Christmas parade or other event going on outside, because they've just started BLASTING Christmas music outside my window. Just trying to listen to some nice classical music as I pack, but guess that's not happening...

UGH!!

Beginning the home buying process by talking to a mortgage specialist. It's very grim, but they're optimistic that they an get me approved for something half decent, in which case I will celebrate. If not, I guess renting will have to do.. sadly.

Ended up sleeping 3 hours, which I think is gonna have to be enough. I'll see if I can maybe get another half hour, but it is very close to when I need to be awake anyway.

I hope that you have (enjoy?) a good night's rest.

I must say that I have never been able to sleep well the night before I have an early (very early) morning flight, and I write as someone who actually has the gift of sleep, and who can sleep anywhere, and almost anytime.

Safe travels.

One of the few useful things my military training taught me (apart from how to properly clean cooking and eating equipment) was how to sleep anywhere, anytime, anyhow.* If you can sleep sitting side-saddle in a Caribou, you can sleep anywhere...

* and how to properly shine boots.

Good luck with it. Remember once you have paid off that debt you can live rent free!
However the literal translation of the word mortgage is death grip (comes from the French).

But don’t let that put you off! Buying a home is about the most sensible thing you can do with your money in most circumstances.

Not a good sleeper. If I’m staring away from home I sleep really badly. Especially the first night.
I don’t sleep all that well at home these days either. Too many trips to the bathroom coupled with stuff on my mind.
Doesn’t matter how early I stop drinking. The joy of getting older.

That reminds me, one of my dad's favorite stories is when he had to sleep on the floor an Italian train station, after traveling through the Balkans. This was in the 1990s, shortly after those countries gained independence from Yugoslavia. He was traveling with one of his best friends, and neither of them had any money. I seriously doubt I could ever do that.
They should have fallen asleep at a train station in Serbia, where they could have learnt all the bad words while nodding off to sleep.

Home insurance. 30 minutes online and the phone and saved myself £300. Better than a kick in the teeth.

Never go with the renewal offer!
Hmm.

My Home Content insurance just increased 22% from last year. (This is separate from the Home insurance that I share with the rest of the building's owners, which also have increased a. lot. the last couple of years...)

And the all-year Travel insurance increased by 11%.

The "problem" is that I get very good rates** as part of a union, so shopping around isn't really an option... but still a bit annoying.

** The rates are so good we couldn't be a**ed to cancel the Travel insurance during the Covid years, even if we didn't go abroad for a couple of years there. (It does cover domestic travels, also, though, but we didn't do much of that, either).

Ours went up by a similar amount. But after shopping around it went down by more than 30%.
We live in a detached house, so it is building and contents.

Hi!! I don't think you and I have spoken, at least in awhile.

In any event, I am glad you are still alive and here.

Terrific to see you (or, rather read you) here and delighted to learn that both you and your mother are "hanging in".

Hope you're both better than "hanging in", but I am well aware that this is not always easy.

In any case, stay safe, stay sane, stay strong, and above all, try to be kind to yourself.

Nice to hear from you. Hope things are going okay on the job and home front.

Hi again everyone,

I am so grateful for this thread (& the iPad art and foodie threads too) and everyone who has been always so thoughtful. It's been a year to put it mildly, but super grateful things are on the up and up finally.

I hope you are all staying safe, strong, happy and are doing well at work and home.

Thank you for always being here. :) 🤗 I look forward to posting a bit more as a schedule takes shape. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who participates and more big hugs to everyone here.

We haven't had any rain for months but I made it rain yesterday, well, drizzle anyway.

I took my car to have it washed and of course then it started to drizzle just as the car exited the wash building.

I hope you are all staying safe, strong, happy and are doing well at work and home.
I’ll be honest, I’m trying… been dealing with some health issues. I’m just really glad to be going home after the 2.5 month-long trimester. I’m off until early January. Going to be visiting Europe over Christmas, which will be great!
Thank you for always being here. :) 🤗 I look forward to posting a bit more as a schedule takes shape. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who participates and more big hugs to everyone here.
Of course!! I’ve really felt a sense of belonging here, myself—I hope you feel the same. At least that’s my intention.

Thank goodness you can get it at all. So many insurance companies are trying to quit selling insurance in difficult areas here.
