It is New Year’s Eve! You could have splurged for Reserved Seats instead of General Admission or maybe even Lounge SeatsView attachment 2467532

Yes, that’s still happening! I’ll be leaving for Europe in mid-January and will be spending most of the first half of 2025 there.
I agree 2024 was pretty rubbish. Hoping (but not hopeful) that 2025 will be a better one for me personally, nationally and internationally.Honestly, 2024 was a pretty bad year. I got to travel a lot, but if I had to be honest, that was the only good thing. Worst year for my mental health since I was in middle school. Hope things improve in that regard especially.

Good luck with it. I’m hoping to brush up on my interview skills this year after 17 years at the same firm. Kind of had enough already.2 days into 2025 and I'm already done with it...
I'm nervously awaiting a job interview I have tomorrow and I'm really hoping I land this one. If I dont...I'm officially out of ideas.
Current company I work for is hanging on by a thread because the mega corporation that bought us intentionally sabotaged our staffing and keeps threatening to pull the plug on us entirely if we cant pull a miracle out of our ass but we have to do it with the people THEY hire who have zero skills on the subject matter.
Sounds lovely. I had a Pot Noodle in the staff canteen listening to some music like everyone else in there does. The art of conversation over lunch seems to have disappeared these days.Enjoyed a most pleasant lunch with Decent Brother, very civilised.
It was.Sounds lovely.
Actually, - as I hadn't met him in quite a while (though we chat, phone, text, email regularly) I took the opportunity to give him a couple of (belated) seasonal gifts.I had a Pot Noodle in the staff canteen listening to some music like everyone else in there does. Sounds most pleasant. I’m glad you had a nice day together. It was.

He is the sort of chap who doesn't (ever) expect gifts, but is (invariably) astonished and delighted to receive them, although today, he didn't protest as much as usual; anyway, I gave him a (really warm) woollen sweater (cashmere and merino) in fetching black - he admitted that it will be really welcome for the cold spell currently descending upon us, and a really good quality woollen 'beanie' hat (which is the sort of thing he wears in winter, as he is now pretty thin on top).
Apart from the occasions when he has to appear in court (which calls for the obvious attire of polished black shoes, dark suit, shirt - he bought two white shirts for work today when he was with me - and tie), he dresses for comfort (especially when wfh), so a warm sweater will be welcome as long as winter is with us.
Lunch was lovely, and we had coffee later in another spot before he headed back - he is at work tomorrow, and actually has been back at work since 27th December, taking today off (in addition to yesterday, which was a national holiday) in order to travel to see me.
So you much prefer the remote work life I assume? I know I do.I agree 2024 was pretty rubbish. Hoping (but not hopeful) that 2025 will be a better one for me personally, nationally and internationally.
I was asleep at midnight. It’s years since I’ve stayed up for it. It’s just another day here. The wind and rain in the UK put a dampener on anyone who was planning to celebrate with many events cancelled.
Awoke to rain and wind lashing against the windows.
Hopefully it improves before tomorrow. Working at the office tomorrow sadly. Last couple of days worked from home, but it was so quiet in terms of emails and teams messages it felt like the old days when I’d work in the evenings and weekends. Glad I don’t do that anymore.
Now just waiting for Mrs AFB to wake up so I can go make my first cup of tea of 2025. The first of many today I’m sure.
1000%. We do three at home, two in the office. But the open plan office is just grim. Nobody talks to anyone. Just all sit there listening to their headphones. If I could switch to 100% remote I’d do it in a heartbeat. So you much prefer the remote work life I assume? I know I do.
I have long been of the opinion that the open plan office is the spawn of Satan, and whoever invented it deserves a painful and prolonged, demise, for Hell is not hot enough to play host to them.1000%.
