complicated by increasingly developing cataracts

Yeah, that's a balancing-act, for sure!

Other's I have talked with have done their "when should I get eye surgery" accounting less on a monetary scale, and more to the "I have one, good shot at success, and I don't want to use it up too early".

Though my focal-points have become reduced at an increasingly-rapid pace, I will just wait until I just can't take it any longer.

I am really getting tired of people trying to run scams against me all the time. Calling on the phone, emails, text messages, people knocking on the door. Electronic filtering of texts, phone calls, and emails are mostly effective. But still a few get through each day and if I turn off the filtering, there are several dozen fraudulent solicitations each day.

Same. Boils my blood!

What's on my mind is my favorite phrase in all of technology: "something went wrong".
I love a good catch-all phrase.

I have worked with some software developers that would implement error recovery code and then, the message would be something like that for everything. They didn't actually check the error(s).

The one that literally makes me want to throw my computer out the second story window (I live on the second floor of the dorms) is when I click the browser bookmark for my school portal and up comes “hang on a moment while we sign you out.” WHEN I LITERALLY DID NOTHING. After an unspecified time period, it automatically signs out. Then I have to sign back into my school portal, receive a 2FA code to the Microsoft Authenticator app on my phone (which works about 20% of the time), and then FINALLY I can access school resources. I have to do this at least 3x a week.

EDIT: I have a worse one. The Ellucian services. Those don’t log on with Microsoft, they use some other single sign on service. But after literally 20 minutes, it makes me sign in again. That’s where my institution hosts registration and course evaluation forms.

I got another "you forgot to pay your tolls" scam text message today.
I got a call with a robot voice saying "This is a call from .. Geneva police department.." then I hung up. It was also in English which was either dumb or super sophisticated ("they" know my first language is English) kidding.

Just signed my new iCloud T&C’s. Thanks UK Government for making me less secure!

Sun was out this morning. Made a most pleasant change. Clouding over a bit now though. Hopefully Mrs AFB will get her washing dry still.

At long last, the quality of light seems to be improving, a true harbinger of spring.

Today's sky was a little brighter, a little more cheering, the rays of the sun, when it appeared, offering a promise of brighter, longer, warmer days to come.

We still have blood oranges (I gorged myself on freshly squeezed blood orange juice - sunshine in a glass - today; usually, I will have a blend of - or, some combination of, freshly squeezed grapefruit, lemons, oranges and - at the moment, because they are in season, and I have arranged to have around twenty delivered to me each week - blood oranges); bliss.

And, wild garlic - ramson - is coming into season, as well; this week, I treated myself to some wild garlic pesto - yum.

Agreed. Had a very pleasant walk in the sunshine earlier with my camera. Even saw some daffodils in full bloom.

Did I make a dumb decision or not...

Context: I'm getting Monday my 17th tattoo, I know it's going to be white tiger, but I'm not going to see the design until the tattoo is done.

DAFFODILS!!!!! Around here we don't usually see them until March -- I can hardly wait!
I can hardly wait, either.

As some of you will know, I absolutely adore daffodils, and will now proceed to keep a close eye out for them.

Most years, I expect to be able to see them - to thrill to the sight of daffodils - from - roughly - mid to late February, which is where we find ourselves at the moment.

And, @Clix Pix, do, also keep an eye for (fresh) wild garlic pesto, (I enjoyed my first helping this week), as the ramsons - wild garlic - are just beginning to appear.

I have two tattoos: one on my upper left arm and one on my right thigh. They are both small, they are text, and they cannot be seen unless I'm purposefully exposing more skin than usual 😅 I don't think I could've gotten one unless I knew exactly what the design was. Both were done by an artist who's also a personal friend of mine and we went over the designs thoroughly before I got them. So not seeing the design until it's finished is a bit wild to me.

Same with camera lenses for me!
Musical instruments and audio gear for me. At one point, I had 6 keyboards/synthesizers, 4 guitars, an alto saxophone, a trumpet, and a violin. I tried my hand at all of them but stuck with piano, and ultimately bass guitar. A few years ago, I sold 4/6 keyboards, 3/4 guitars, the saxophone, trumpet, and violin. Now I'm down to two keyboards and a bass guitar.

I still have my stash of microphones I've collected over the years. Those come in handy every once in awhile, so not selling any of those.

I just don’t give my number out all that much. Calls are usually from Mrs AFB.

Like others I use an email address I just access through webmail where I have to give one. My personal email address is for me. Not Amazon etc. to sell on.

Not getting any warmer here, but the days are getting longer.
Same here. Have you tried out Hide my Email on iCloud +? I use it when I sign up for community events, promotions, and anything I don’t want to use my real email address for. For instance, if you’re concerned about sharing your information online but still need to share an email address, it redirects to an email of your choice associated with your Apple ID. It’ll create funny email addresses with Apple.com addresses on it.

Additionally, you should consider giving private cloud relay a try. It provides better protection for your browsing on Safari and hides your IP address from the dark web and hackers.

On a personal note, y’all, I have some exciting news! I received an acceptance letter for my dream university, and I’m thrilled to be transferring there. It made my day!
