So 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 all had GMs (and so, of course did 5.0) Those being the last 4 point releases, I think actual experience says it could go either way.

The sentence "Apple doesn't release "gold masters" for point updates." is demonstrably wrong.

I stand corrected.

Did Apple forget about 5.1? lol. :/ They probably have been doing some extensive research on the battery problems.

Why doubtful? Look at the history. GM at media event to announce the features. Release the week the new iPad comes out. They won't release GM without announcing the features.

4.2 GM was released without a media event. Looking at the history is nothing to go by, the history last summer was an iPhone every June and that was changed. Also, it's been 3 weeks since the last 5.1 beta. If we don't see another one this week, expect a GM next week.

I see 10.7.3 being released at the same time because there are no known issues.

I'm not bothered about the Facebook integration, I am on Twitter and Facebook about the same amount of time. Yes it would be nice but for me it's not required.

The deletion of a single photo in PhotoStream is something that I think should of been included from the start but at the end of the day PhotoStream is supposed to be keeping all of yours photos in sync on all of your devices. All that being said, I do think that the inclusion of the delete function is good!

Beta 3 expires in mid-March. Beta expiration dates "far" (> 1 month) in the future have been a good indicator for release time frames (for example, look at the 5.0 betas.) I don't think we'll see a GM until late February, around the same time as the rumored iPad 3 introduction.

Ok, so now we're in February. With ipad 3 event coming closer and closer, i doubt IOS 5.1 will come out before...

I was referring to 4.1, which is a direct comparible, but I see you deliberately avoid that cos it disproves your point.

Beta 2 to beta 3 was a month, but beta 1 to beta 2 was less than that, gap between betas is meaningless.

Oh and another wtf, I was updating a game. And I'm not really sure what happened, but the game didn't update properly and I lost my save data.

Now I have to start FF3 all over again. AND I was near the end.

I wish they had an app data restore functionality where you can restore it to the last backed up state for that specific app.

I've already submitted the feature request to Apple. Maybe... one day....

And this would be great if you want to uninstall an app for some reason but then reinstall it at a later date with all its previous data still there.

I suppose a dev could implement this with iCloud storage but it would be awesome if it were universal and automatically included with every app as part of iCloud backups.

All my saved game data gets stored in the icloud backup. If that happened to me, I would immediately do a icloud restore of my phone.

I just wish Apple would get their finger out and get the battery life and Invalid SIM bugs fixed. They have been around far too long.

They turn a 4s into a glorified iPod Touch (and I'm not affected as badly as many people).

I feel Apple have let their loyal customers down very badly over this

iOS 5.0.1 build 406 for iPhone 4S specifically (released not too long ago) should fix at least some invalid SIM issues.

That link doesn't appear to work.

Weird. Works for me. Here's the attached picture:

I hope they change Safari. After you've seen the Talkatone app... Safari never looks the same.

That's the version I'm running but for me, and a lot of others, it made no difference

I'm running 5.1 Beta 3 and it (5.1) fixed my WPA2 Enterprise authentication protocol problem. It was working fine in iOS 4.x but as soon as I upgraded to iOS 5.0, that's when it stopped working. Glad that it works again in 5.1.

Oh... and I don't have any of the battery drain issues I had in 5.0 and 5.0.1. Really happy about that.
