while a lot of people say newstand, and i have bought it for that very reason. I am a big fan of byline. Syncs with google reader, decent UI, and has a few features i enjoy that newstand does not have

My only problem with byline is that is assumes you have everything in folders, I don't use folders, just individual feeds. With byline it's impossible to read feeds like this. Newsstand fixes this.

in Byline or Google Reader i usually skim down my "new" list. My favorite in byline, if I click on a feed, then leave to send a text. I can come back not only to the feed i was just at, but it will remember my scrolling position on the list of articles. It loads VERY fast to. News stand might have a little slicker UI, and look a little more iPhone-ish but, its missing just a few things that i enjoyed from Byline.

yeah i know that, just the App it self is just missing SOMETHING. I still keep it on the iPhone so i can keep and eye out for the updates

like i said earlier the ability to save scroll position on feed list if your within reading an article.

situation:

I am reading about the new iPod Nano's in a gizmodo RSS feed. i get a text, i go read and reply to the text ,click on byline and it not only resumes from the article i am reading, when i tap to go back to the list of unread feeds it remembers scroll position, so i don't have to start from the top and go through 50 articles i just skimmed past.

Id say its faster than Newstand in the loading of your feeds.

I used newsstand for a few days and it was crippling to me. I will continue to keep updated with it and see if it works better for my work flow.

+1 for Byline

Newsstand is good but I find Byline much faster to load feeds and less likely to time out. Since I use folders in Google Reader it's great.

I do hope Byline comes out with Instapaper intergration. That is what drove me to try Newsstand.

iNews - I've switched between FEEDS, Byline and Newsstand so many times but I always come back to using iNews for it's amazing speed. It has ReadItLater & Instapaper support and just about every feature I could ask for.

I always find Byline, Newsstand and Feeds okay to use for a short period of time but then find I just get my RSS feeds read so much faster with iNews.

The developer always responds to emails with suggestions as well.

The KILLER feature for me is when I want to read the FULL article, just hit the "Mobile" button and it loads the much faster Google Mobile version of the article rather than wait for the full blown web page to load. Why the other RSS apps don't make more use of Google Mobile I have no idea.

IMO Byline is not good. It's very laggy on my iPhone 3G 16GB, ugly theme, and developer refuses to add instapaper support and was rude to those who requested it on a forum I saw awhile back.

Newsstand has various themes, instapaper support, and I like it much better..

Not exactly an app suggestion, but Google has a great interface for reading feeds through mobile Safari.

Newsstand. It's very well done and integrates with Google Reader. It has a nice set of features and works very well on my 3GS.

Are there any good RSS readers that will push when you have new messages?

I wouldn't mind it pushing as a badge icon, but would find it rather annoying to push as a popup/message.

With google reader i don't get the desire for instapaper. Just star a google reader artical and read it later if needed.

Since NetNewsWire for Mac started synching with Google Reader instead of Newsgator, that's what I like to use on my iPhone, just using Safari. Never cared too much for the NNW iPhone app and don't need advanced features (push notifications, offline reading, whatever).

+1

Exactly what I use as I need to stay synced between Mac-iPhone-Online.

I bought Newstand last week. I deleted it yesterday. It was so laggy and slow I couldn't stand it. It would clog my phone and make it unuseable. So it went.

I bought Byline a month or so ago and it is okay.

Before that I bought RSS Flash G and I have stuck with that one. It's nice. Fast and easy to use and doesn't clog my phone like it's stuck in the mud.
