I really like this thread, so I will bump it up. There is always the old "take your hard drive out, throw it at a wall, then put it back in" trick.
Before you sell of five away a Mac, make sure that no personal data remains on it. After you've copied all your files to your new Mac, restart the old one from the Mac OS X installation disc. Open Disk Utility and select your disk from the list on the left. Click on the Erase tab and then on Security Options. Next, choose one of the several erasure methods that are offered. The 7-Pass Erase option is probably sufficient for most people, but if you're truly paranoid, select 35-Pass Erase, which will make it nearly impossible for anyone, even James Bond, to recover your files. If you're using a laptop, make sure it's plugged in. This process can take a long time. -Kirk McElhearn

I'm not conning the system. Whats conning the system u mean here?
Koodauw said:This would be ruining a computer to have it replace under Applecare, or another insurance program as others have mentioned. Although this would be considered fraud, which is illegal, so Ill assume your not attempting the stunt for this reason.

"MICROWAVE !"
This sounds good but will there be any type of damage to the thing physically? I don't want my display to get hurt whatsoever. Or u mean i remove the HD solely and put it into the microwave? how do u come about doing that? i don't have any special screws to open the iBook's screw...

Haha...what were they thinking? I used to be an engineer, and even I can't fathom why in the world that computer has a giant chrome wheel on the side.

alternatively you could follow how not to use thermal grease

To make it stop downloading songs, that is just not possible in my opinion, what exactly do you mean by download songs?
