I should have stayed with my 7 Plus, but the little bit of speed gain and the wireless charging... and I broke down and bought the 8 Plus. (should have stopped myself, or went with the X)

I kinda knew i'd buy a new iPhone this year.. Was just hoping for a huge improvement. As soon as I saw the XS Max and the XR I was just trying to decide which one. The XS was 100% out from the start.. They gave me a bigger screen option, sold. I've played with the X next to my 7/8 Plus before and while it would be an increase in phone capabilities.. the screen size being smaller was a huge turn off. Type on my 7/8 Plus keyboard, and then the same on the X's.. it felt like going back to a 6S or 7/8 non Plus model.

Now i'm pretty sure i'll keep this iPhone for 2-3 years.
(now watch, Apple will release the 7" screen XS Max Plus next year that is 300% faster and with normal usage last 7 days without a charge...)

I really like the wireless charging of the 8 plus. No reason to upgrade in my opinion.

Your poll doesn't go low enough. I paid $699 for my iPhone 8 last year and that’s pretty much my max...and even now I think I over paid.

My MBP and my iPhone are almost all I use... my iPad has drained to dead so many times I forget I have it anymore. And with the 6.5" screen on my Max... the iPad may no longer be "needed"

I’m considering doing this as I only have an iPhone and iPad for personal and work use. I think ultimately it will be tough to give up the bigger screen and split screen, but the Max may be able to do much of what I use my iPad for at work all day.

Apparently a good bit. ;-p

Honestly, I think I’d cap at $1000 if I had to pay out of pocket in full; likely around $75/month max on a payment plan.

I just did the upgrade plan for my Max 64 gb (thankfully I’m only using about 27 gigs of my 256, so I was able to go smaller), and, with the additional AppleCare added on for theft, etc., I’m at $58/month, roughly $10 more than where I was with my 8+ 256.

Of course I had planned to keep my 8+ another year, which would’ve been nice because selling it at that point would’ve given me money to put down on my next phone instead of basically leasing, but I’m thinking the Max is gonna be my perfect phone (LOVE the + size, and I know I’ll love having a bigger screen), so I’m thinking I might really wanna keep it a while.

Honestly, I use my phone more than any other device I own, so it’s the one area I don’t mind spending a bit more.
