I've never used C4D so I can't give a fair comparison. As far as chatter from the internets people do like MoGraph a lot in C4D but many switched to Modo because they feel that C4D's renderer is subpar and that it's tools are antiquated and it costs too much.

I can't verify any of the above its just what I've observed others saying.

I would suggest maybe asking over on the forums here: http://community.thefoundry.co.uk/discussion/

There are a lot of knowledgable people there (including switchers and people who use both softwares) that could give you a lot better specifics than I can.

I will say Modo's price is what drove me to choose Modo over C4D.

Ok thanks for the feedback.

Carrara & Hex

I use Carrara PRO. Its is buggy as hell and sometimes DOES NOT WORK when rendering out, But Its what I use.

I use Hexagon for most of my modeling

Daz

My favorite at the moment is Carrara Pro. It is an all in one solution that seems fairly easy to get the hang of. I have tried Hash, Bryce, Daz 3D and like Carrara. I use the educational version so it was affordable. If money were not an issue I would probably go with Strata 3D or Cinema 4D. If you watch the Daz3d web site you can pick up deals if you join their monthly club. I got Hexagon 2.1 for $30 and Bryce 5 for next to nothing.

I to use Carrara Pro and haven't in some time though. I run on a MAC PRO 5,1, and I have a huge issue that Carrara pro WILL NOT RENDER OUT Animation because of some issues it has with Quicktime 64 bit.

Do you know if DAZ has done anything about that?

DAZ really sucks by the way!
