If anything I'm glad it hasn't gotten molested yet with transparency and long animations.

I would hate to see user's expectations from a paid app. It is a free app afterall.

i m wondering when new apps gonna release to public. I;ve been waiting for so long lol

I paid a dollar for it... :p

It's now subscription based... But lifetime free for us who bought it... I wouldn't mind paying a nominal amount for it though... Saves me a ton of money per annum AND is ad free...

Not free anymore ....

Still listed as free in the App store. Doesn't even say anything about in app purchases being available either, of course I only checked for the iPhone. I checked before posting originally and just checked again and still listed as free (although might be different on Android, as I don't own any Android devices I don;t keep up on them).

No, it's not free, do some research before posting..

See post above. If you have something better to add different then what I have found then do so rather than post nothing that adds value!! SHould I be expected to investigate further than the free icon within the app store and where it doesn't say anything about in app purchases either?

It's a free App, but you have to have a subscription to use it.

It's $0.99 US or the local equivalent per year.

If you signed up before they switched to the subscription model, you get to use it with your phone number for life. Everyone else can get a free 1 year trial.

Yes, they had since June to start redesigning the app... They are the laciest developers ever.

It wasn't free when I bought it 1-2 years ago. And yeah it's extremely annoying as it's one of the apps I use most but not only does it look extremely old and outdated, it's also glitchy for me too (the gap between messages and keyboard seems to be a common issue). I wish they'd hurry up and update..

Its not free, it's 0.99€ per years.
In my mind 0.99€ is different from free ....

Ps: it is written right in the description: first year for free THAN 0.99$ per year

If you are going to make a false claim then yea, you do need to investigate more. Going to call Netflix free too?

I paid a $1 like 2-3 years ago for eternal ownership :)

They have moved to a sub based freemium model now.

yeap the keyboard thing happens w/ me too.

Whatsapp iOS7

There's a little mis-information in this thread.

WhatsApp used to be £0.69/$0.99 as a one-off cost. Last year they changed to a subscription model - free app for one year, then a subscription of £0.69/$0.99 per year.

Doesn't excuse the sheer laziness of the developers though.

Never made a claim, false or true, just stated what I saw on iTunes and that is that it is listed as free, look at it and tell me I am wrong in what I stated. If I wanted it I would investigate it more. Next time fet your facts straight before you go off accusing someone who made an honest and simple mistake. I did look into it and it is listed as free and is misleading as such.

I swear civility on these boards is long gone. People feel that they can attack anyone for anything at anytime. The Internet gives them a sense of superiority.

Definitely agree it's the last of the major apps that hasn't actually been updated with a new UI.

It looks so ugly when I switch to WhatsApp after using Instagram or Twitter for example.
