There's somebody on Twitter that claims it'll be out around this Sunday or earlier. He's another beta tester but he also claims that it was rejected last Sunday, so no idea if he can be trusted. A good source to give you false hope, anyway. (@sajinseethi)

No he's not, he's just quoting what we've been quoting from the account that got deleted.

Seems like @whatsapp iOS 7 update got rejected by Apple. Says, the guys who claims to beta test it. #NotSure

Whatsapp iOS7

Also works fine on my iPhone 4S.

I like the way the app now takes advantage of background app refresh. Seems to work very well for me.

I was never a big fan of whatsapp, but this is quite a welcome update in my opinion.

This.

So glad I don't need to wait for messages to download when I open the app, they're already there for me.

I'd prefer it if they'd use the Messages style speech bubbles.

Don't like the date stamps, they're too obvious. Having that as just text in a grey colour would be fine. It's too eye catching and it's information that is pretty meaningless so not something I need to know about in such a big manner.

I just noticed that Facebook Messenger handles this rather well; tap an individual message, it'll show the date and time it was sent. I've never noticed this.

I still think iMessage does it better with its swiping to the left thing to reveal all the times.

Happy to finally have the WhatsApp update anyway, this is the first time WhatsApp has actually looked appealing amirite? ;)

Actually, I'm noticing that the slide animation you get when going from within a chat back out to your main list of chats is painfully choppy and laggy in the newest version of WhatsApp (on an up to date iPhone 5).

Hope they address this soon.

Yea. Hope they address this soon. But for now, u can turn on "Increase Contrast" in Settings, Accessibility for a smoother animation

Pretty smooth on my 4S. I have reduce motion on, so not sure how that effects the performance of the slide animations.

The 2.11.6 update fixed the slide animation for me :) Btw I can't seem to get the background app refresh feature working :/ The screenshot doesn't seem to update when I get a new message regardless of whether the the app was closed inside the conversation or in the chat list. Anyone have any ideas?

I thought background app refresh was so when you opened the app, it already had the message downloaded ready to view.

I don't look at the screenshot in the multitask bar, I actually prefer the iOS 6 way.

Which iPhone do you have?

I'm actually not sure how it's supposed to work, I've just noticed a few times that you can see new messages without having to click the app.

iPhone 5. Unfortunately it hasn't happened even once for me...

It's supposed to refresh the screenshot in the multitask screen as well. At least that seems to be the case for the native mail and messages app + pinterest.
