I'm getting a little fed up of using the old WhatsApp design.

It isn't just about how it looks, but the lack of iOS 7 interactions, such as swiping left to go back. I also have an issue where on occasion, my WhatsApp notifications will clear when I've not even opened the app.

The official Whatsapp Twitter page don't even bother to at least say anything at all to assure us all that an update is coming whatsoever. At least Viber does reply. Lol

I wish they'd remove the 'status' bit, does anyone use that? And chats should've been on the left since day 1. I have no use for favourites - once my conversations are started I don't need to check favourites.

Yep, when I first installed it, the 'favourites' thing being on the left was very confusing.

I would list all the features I wish they could add/change (And none of them are even that complex) but I can't be bothered to waste my time, I highly doubt they read over forums looking at complaints, I don't think any company listens to the consumers at all. I bet those who put a "File a request" button on their site just have all the requests deleted straight away anyway.

No, I meant, what do you think Facebook will do with the address book? They'll sell it, that makes you a product.

For VoIP purposes - they are using the same model WhatsApp and Viber are using. Instead of trying to find someone's Facebook, if you have their number, you can message or VoIP them with just that info.

They are probably rubbing their hands together at what all they'll do with this contact information though.

They better add some great features like this ones if they work so long on it:

- if the app is running in the background show the user online but with idle time

- show location from where you chat like in facebook messenger

- show message "read/seen" like in facebook messenger

- wi-fi/voip calling will be amazing too

- work a bit on the user profile design because it sucks

...all this features in a light and simple design will be great ;)

I hate online status and read/seen flags. If I read something, I might be on the go and not able to reply for a while, but it looks rude that I've seen it and not responded for 6 hours.

On iOS you can turn off the 'last seen' thing; settings > chat settings > advanced.

Also a way around the read receipt on iMessage is to read the message in the notifications centre, then you've been able to read it, but you've also been able to keep the badge/notification there to remind you later. I always do that.

I have to agree, except not that interested in location sharing and voice calling.

Perhaps it's taking them a while since they've also got to add these features to the other platforms?

I do already have 'last seen' turned off, but it still shows me as online when I've got the app open.

Thankfully iMessage lets you turn off read status for messages.

I can confirm that ....
Whatsapp is very intrusive regarding your privacy, as it show your status all the time.
You can just turn off the "last seen" information, but you can't hide your online/offline status.

I don't understand what's wrong with letting people know when you were last online? It's not like it's saying "Last seen on the toilet"...

Because I don't always reply right away, and needy people get annoyed when they can see you've read their message, and been online recently and still not replied.

Why do people need to see the exact moment I've read it or that I'm online? And what does online even mean now? My smart phone is connected to the internet 24/7, I'm always online.

Why people have to know when i was online last time ?
I can't see how useful this information could be.

It's worth knowing whether or not you're active on it. Today I messaged someone to ask why they haven't been in college for a while, and I noticed that they haven't been on WhatsApp since last month, so they must be out of the country or something.

Something that I really want to see is the ability to get WhatsApp on my iPad as well, maybe even my Mac, just like with iMessage. I don't know why this hasn't happened already.

They don't want iPad to "cannibalize" iPhone sales ....
Nowadays a lot of people use smartphones for everything but phone calls ...

I'm not insecure, it's a small portion of the people I message who are, when they can see I've read their message and been online a few times since and still not replied.

The whole read thing is for insecure people, so you know that someone has read your message and you can eagerly await their response or assume the worst when they don't reply.
