This is the best outlook for the iMac that I can think of.November 2008
Mid 2009
- Speed bump (~267 MHz, 3.2 GHz top model)
- Possible 4 GB RAM on high-end
- NVIDIA 9000 series GPUs
- NVIDIA chipset
- DDR3 RAM
- LED displays
H1 2010
- Speed bump (~133 MHz, 3.33 GHz dual-core or some quad-core as top model)
- NO Nehalem (Nehalem is coming in late 2009 and early 2010)
- 4 GB RAM
- Possible small redesign (like the Front Row iMacs in late 2005), taking cues from the LED display, maybe removal of Firewire, and more differentiation between the 20" and 24" (dual-core/quad-core?)
- Nehalem (dual-core and quad-core)
I'm really liking the new chipset from nVidia. GPU, northbridge, and southbridge all-in-one. Not that the iMac needs better battery life.
