Are you going to take down your holiday decorations?

My family has never had a tree. Traveling this year, but even when we don’t, no tree. Though I’ve seen Christmas decorations on people’s houses in the middle of February, which makes absolutely no sense to me.

EDIT: We don’t do Halloween, either. Actually, we don’t really decorate at all.

lol. I thought that. Seems like more people don’t decorate than do.
No need to take anything down when you don't put it up. Seems like the poll needs one more option. :)
Alright thanks for the feedback y’all guys and moderation team! I will update it now to reflect those who don’t celebrate Xmas 🎄 and/or don’t decorate it. I completely forgot about that part.

Exterior lights usually come down by new years along with most interior decorations. The Christmas tree though hangs out decorated till about 10th when our compost bin gets picked up.

You have a real Christmas tree, right? They don’t last as long as they should, so start removing the ornaments if they start to show signs of wilting 🥀 or if it cannot take in the water. This will depend on when you bought it.

If the needles are weak enough to fall off and you see lots of ornaments coming off, you might want to take it down as it can pose a safety hazard. Dump them into the compost bin and pour the water out into the backyard.

I’m starting the process today, can’t wait to have the house back to normal. We have 5 large Christmas trees across the house so it’s quite a task along with ornaments that need to be packaged up too. I’ll leave exterior lights to another time in January.

That’s because you have such a large house! 😜

Ha! I wish, no I actually don’t wish to be honest lol. I just have a family that seem to come home with Christmas ornaments and decorations every time they go out. I’ve spent the day today and completely de-christmastised my house from top to bottom. Now it looks bigger 😜
Doing it on NYE is also another way to get the house looking fresh without the holiday stuff. Especially since we have to move furniture around to make room for it at the start.

It’s just another day to me as I haven’t done anything for NYE in 10 years now. I only have 2 more days now before returning to work so it had to be done. Looks so much better now it’s all back in the loft.

Got it. I don’t go on my business trip until late January, which is for a week long. Then I’m off again all the two weeks of lunar new year. 🧧
SOON… 🙂
Yep it’s new years. A lot of y’all will get it taken down soon.

Well, since I didn't put up any decorations, I won't have to worry about when to take them down!

Most years, I don't really bother doing anything. Sad, because I like the decorations...but my heart just isn't in it now. I'm pretty much alone and forgotten during the holiday season--apart from family living far off who send a mailing--and so my enthusiasm for even bothering is low. I'm not in a position to entertain where I live, so I don't have that as an excuse to decorate. I don't even have a cat, who might like a tree bat ornaments off.

The recent years I have bothered were typically done late (the tree wasn't decorated until after Christmas one year!), and the tree could linger and linger. One year, probably April. (Fortunately, it was a fake tree, so it wasn't a dried out wreck when it came down.LOL)

I'm not sure about the time frame when I was growing up, but what I remember now--which was the approach taken the last few years we were in my last childhood home--the tree went up about 2 weeks before Christmas. The tree stayed up into January someplace.

We undecorated on the 30th. We went out of town from the 26-29 and had a live tree, and I didn't want to turn the lights back on since it hadn't been watered in four days by that point, so it came down. The latest I ever take stuff down is January 1, but I prefer to do it a couple of days earlier. I am so happy my house is back to normal.

Ohhhh, I was out of town for Christmas too but I have a long break so I am not taking it down until later this month. Happy new year 🎈🎆🎊.

I'm not a super Christmassy person, and we put everything up right before Thanksgiving, so a month was more than enough for me!
