I tested this out of interest.

I set a reminder for 'when i get in the car.' Later, I sat in the car for a couple of minutes, and the phone automatically connected to the Mercedes Bluetooth system, no reminder.

I did get a reminder a few seconds later as a drove away. I suppose it activated the reminder as soon as I started travelling above a certain speed. It would be interesting to see if the reminder was activated on any type of transport, as opposed to only my own car.

No, it was your Bluetooth. Just delayed response

No, it wasn't.

If you set the reminder correctly to getting in or out of the car, it will not trigger based on movement.

These trigger based on a connection to a known (pre-programmed by Apple) car Bluetooth system.

Hi everyone. I can confirm that this feature works without carplay in my european skoda rapid 2013. When iPhone connects to builtin car's bluetooth reminder shows up. Same with disconnecting

Hm, this worked fine for me on iOS 9 with iPhone 6 on my Ford Mondeo 2011 (European car).
Now I have the 6S Plus with 9.1 and it doesn´t work anymore. I can make the reminder, but it doesn´t Trigger anymore.
I already disconnected the phone and reset all settings.

Does this work for anyone anymore?

I tried it out in my 2016 Honda Accord Ex in December with my iPhone 6s Plus and it worked. I just tried it again today and it didn't. It wouldn't work with an iPhone 5s either. It looks like an iOS update broke it.

Of note, my Accord supports CarPlay and when I saw it working in December I was only using Bluetooth. Now it doesn't work with either even after resetting privacy and location, resetting network settings and removing my car from Bluetooth and CarPlay and re-adding it.

My work phone (which I leave Bluetooth always on in order to connect to my work van) always sends me an ETA to/from work depending on where I am. It isn't linked to time of day as I work a mixture of days, nights, weekends you name it. The fact I can only use the van for work purposes limits the number of destinations I visit with it though which may help.

I get the direction/traffic pop up occasionally when I have stuff on my calendar. It seems random. I am going to try the reminder thing for my car. I do not have BT in my car so I want to see if it activates by speed.

That's a completely different thing. That's iOS 9 trying to guess where you want to go based on where you've been. If you go to work at odd hours or spend most of your time at work, that could be why.

Car reminders are reminders that are set manually with the location set to "getting in car". As far as I can tell, they never work.

Tested this yesterday as i've never used it and didnt actually realise it was an option!! Within a few seconds of my phone connecting to the car bluetooth the reminder went off on the phone.

I wondered what this was. I don't have carplay but I got a new car and whenever it automatically syncs with the bluetooth this notification comes up.

Is there a way to turn it off? It's not very useful to me.

Which car model and which phone and iOS version?

It used to work for me, but doesn't anymore.

2010 Vauxhall Insignia Elite Estate with the CD500 stereo system and i've got an iPhone 6S that i got in January and its running the latest non beta software.

I've only tested this once and it worked fine plus i also get travel time reminders when i get in the car and it connects generally telling me how long it will take me to get home or work. I also get the travel time reminders, mainly for home and work but occasionally other things, showing in the notification centre.
