I said this shortly after the iPad was announced, and some guy even used it in his sig (lol).

"Saying that the iPad is just a big iPod Touch is like saying a 30" Apple Cinema Display is just a big 13" Macbook display"

It's actually a fairly accurate comparison too, as the iPod Touch uses inferior LCD tech (probably TN or the like, similar to the white Macbook), and the iPad uses IPS, like the Apple Cinema Display, though probably not up to the highest quality like the ACD--but still pretty good though. We'll see. Games will be incredible.

People also need to realize that this has been Steve Job's baby for probably the better part of a decade. I'm almost certain that iPhone and iPod Touch were developed out of the iPad program. They held back on the main device because the technology to cost ratio wasn't there yet (not to mention battery life). iPad most likely pre-dated iPhone and iPod Touch. The smaller devices are just tiny iPads.

@Night Spring

If you give a false statement then you might hurt someone. I meant that my statement, even if it's true in some cases, was not intended to be a joke and isn't aimed at anybody.

When I hear "the iPad is just a big iPod Touch... I say, that is exactly why I bought it.

When the iPod touch came out I thought it was way to small to be practical for what I would want to use it for. I said that if they made the touch bigger I would buy it.

As pointed out early in the thread, this has already been discussed - more than once. Those of you wishing to continue the discussion, please use one of the existing threads.
